News and weather reporter Al Roker took to Instagram on Sunday to show appreciation for his son, Nicholas Albert Roker, on National Son Day. He shared a series of photos that show Nicholas growing over the years.

The post included a photo of the news reporter and Nicholas participating in cosplay, wearing the Mario Bros. costume. Al has been public with his son on many occasions and has introduced him to the viewers that watch his news programs.

Al wrote in the caption: "Just found out it's #nationalsonday, and while it's still #sunday," the news reporter recalled. "I want to wish @nick.roker155 the #bestsonever; thanks for being my son," he concluded. His heartfelt token of appreciation was well received by Al's supporters, who flooded the comments with kind words.

Nicholas's father has a following of more than 910,000 users on Instagram. One of them appreciated the news reporter's involvement of his son in cooking segments. Another fan also gave thanks for the news reporter's COVID-19 meal preparation show.

"It's been so special watching him grow into the young man he is. Thanks for sharing these times with us," a fan said, while another commented on Al and Nicholas's resemblance, referring to the latter as his father's taller "mini-me."

Nick Is Grown up Enough He Studies in College

Recently, Al revealed that he had a time constraint on his TODAY show, as he had to travel to Vermont with his wife. The trip's objective was to pick up Nicholas from College as Spring break rolled in. He said:

"I wish I could stay longer, but I have a son who's starting spring break today, and we're driving up to Vermont, but at least we'll get our fix of maple syrup."

Nicholas, a special needs student, graduated high school at Aaron School with his family in attendance to cheer him on. Nicholas made his parents proud that day, and they both expressed their happiness on Instagram. The graduate's parents hosted a party at an Italian cuisine restaurant, Fresco by Scotto.

Al was brought up by a father who was in touch with his emotions and channeled that mentality into the weather reporter who now puts it into practice as a father of three. His son Nicholas has special needs but is unphased by that. He steps up when need be and has a crucial role at their local church as the principal cross-bearer.

"Now that he's 17, I can tell you that, yes, he's somewhere on the spectrum and maybe obsessive-compulsive. But those labels can be frustrating; they don't begin to describe who Nick really is," Al once said about Nicholas. His growth is inspirational, and his perseverance discounts the assumptions about differently-abled people.

Nicholas's father was concerned about his slow development as a child, but as he grew, he became the answer to Al's prayers. The reporter and his wife have been married for over two and a half decades and have committed to each other after tying the knot on September 16, 1995.
