Morgan Wallen's Parents Built a Family Their Son Admires
Country music star Morgan Wallen sees a lot of value in family and is a great admirer of his parents' stable home.
Morgan was born to Tom and Lesli Warren. The parents played a role in influencing their son's interest in music while he was young, and they have continued to support him throughout.
Although it is not publicly known how long Tom and Lesli have been together, they have been together for quite a long time and have a stable and loving family. That is something that Morgan, currently a single father, hopes to create, especially after he welcomed his son in 2020.
Morgan Wallen’s Parents Loved Rock and Contemporary Christian Music
Morgan Wallen's parents resided in Sneedville, Tennessee, when he was born on May 13, 1993. The family, including Morgan's sisters, later relocated to Knoxville.
Tom worked as a pastor in a local Southern Baptist Church. Despite being a pastor, he was also devoted to rock music which he played around the house frequently. His go-to artists included the Eagles, Def Leppard, Fleetwood Mac, and Skynyrd.
Lesli, a teacher, had a different taste in music from her husband's. She enjoyed contemporary Christian music, which aligns with the family's faith.
Morgan Wallen’s Parents Are Very Supportive of Him and His Career
Morgan says that his parents helped him gain an interest in music at an early age. He noted, "My momma threw me up on stage at church where my dad was a preacher, and I've been singing ever since."
When he was five, he got a fiddle for Christmas and eventually began having classical-violin lessons. His diverse musical tastes developed later on, and some artists he started listening to included Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin, and Lil Wayne.
Even when Morgan got to audition for "The Voice," he was still unsure of what kind of singer he wanted to be. Despite impressing Shakira, one of the celebrity judges, in his first talent show performance, he was still eliminated a month later. Admittedly, Morgan started writing songs when he was 19 or 20.
When he started writing, the songs sounded naturally country; hence, his choice of music was more of an adaptation to his style than country music having a significant influence on him. His collaboration with Joey Moi in Nashville also helped cement the idea of country music in Morgan's head.
With Morgan now basking in stardom, Tom and Lesli continue to support their son. The duo is often seen attending Morgan's shows. On one occasion, fans got excited as the star's mother interacted with the crowd before his performances started. During some concerts, Tom is usually seen singing along, word for word.
The singer and his parents have an excellent relationship and are very close. Morgan refers to his dad as his best friend. On Mother's Day in 2022, he released a song, "Thought You Should Know," dedicated to his mother, who felt emotional and humbled by the gesture.
Morgan Admits He Wants His Own Family to Be like His Parents’ Family
On July 10, 2020, the Wallen clan increased by one as Morgan and his former girlfriend, KT Smith, welcomed Indigo Wilder. Their child was born shortly after the couple separated; hence, Morgan refers to himself as a single parent.
He shows pride in being a parent and says being a father has changed him quite a bit. Many of his decisions now have to consider Indigo, which was not the case before.
Nevertheless, that was not how he envisioned parenthood. His idea of a family was influenced by how his parents had done with theirs, raising their children and remaining together.
That is not how it has turned out for the country music star and he admits that he had a hard time getting to grips with that at the start. Still, he says that he and his co-parent, Smith, have been doing well, and she has helped him in his journey as a father.
