Dwayne Carter III Is a Basketball Player & Named after Dad Lil Wayne

Dwayne Carter III is Lil Wayne's first son. He was born on October 22, 2008, and was named after his father, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Not only does he pursue the sport his father loves, but he also inherited his skills in music.

Dwayne Carter III was born from his father's relationship with a radio host, Sarah Vivian. Unfortunately, his parents' relationship did not last as they went their separate ways.

He is growing up fast, and in October 2020, his mother was even shocked at her son's growth and complimented him on the qualities that she loved.

In an Instagram post of both of them, as she celebrated his birthday, Dwayne's mother wrote how proud she was of him and encouraged him to stay true to himself. In the caption, she wrote:

"Not really sure how I blinked, and you're already in middle school 😩🥺 I'm so proud of the headstrong individualist you are. [...] Keep being your authentic self and blazing your own trail. I love you and I don't care how old you get... I'll never stop stealing kisses."

Dwayne Carter III Inherited His Father's Love for Basketball

Ever since he was young, Dwayne would attend basketball games and events with his dad or mom. His father's love for basketball made him notorious, as he said all the players on the Lakers squad were his favorite players.

In an interview, his father also admitted to loving Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Zion Williamson, and Ja Morant. Now that he's growing up, Dwayne is also playing basketball.

On his Instagram account, he acknowledged that his father is pleased with his decision to play the sport. And just like his dad, he also likes Ja Morant and proudly wore the player's jersey when he opened gifts at Christmas in 2022.

Dwayne Carter III Has 4 Half-Siblings with Whom He Gets Along Well

Dwayne is not an only child. He has three more siblings on his father's side, all with different mothers, and on his mom's side, he has a sister named Essence.

His older sister from his father is Reginae Carter, whom his dad had with his ex-wife, Toya Johnson. His younger brother, Kameron Carter, was born from his father's relationship with actress Lauren London.

His youngest sibling is Neal Carter from his father's relationship with singer Nivea. Despite having different mothers, the children have a close relationship and bear unique, striking resemblances with their father.

When his dad turned 40, he and his siblings from his dad's side were in attendance. They had all flown to Los Angeles from New Orleans to celebrate their father's birthday.

Even without a celebration, Dwayne spends time with his siblings. His mother once took a picture of him hanging out with his little brother, Neal.

Besides their time together, he and his siblings also get to spend time with their father. In an interview, their father revealed that being with his children, helping with their homework, and putting them to sleep gives him the greatest pleasure of being a father.

Dwayne Carter III Has a Music Credit in His Name

Although it is not sure whether Dwayne will follow in his dad's footsteps, he already has his stage name as Lil Tune, and he participated in one of his father's songs, "FL4M3$," in 2020.

In the track, he showed that he had inherited his father's rap trait by rapping all through the single, and fans fell in love with how he handled it.

With his love for music, the younger Carter would also attend concerts, seeing and taking pictures with stars including Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Drake, and Jack Harlow.
