Shakira and Gerard Piqué have called it quits after eleven years together. Here's a look at their relationship and life with children interested in music and sports.
Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their separation after 11 years together. Rumors about their split surfaced in the Spanish media after Pique reportedly left his residence in Barcelona and lived alone.
The couple released a joint statement, revealing that their children remain their top priority, and asked fans and the media to respect their privacy amidst a trying time.

The couple, who already share children, never got married. "Marriage scares me," Shakira said. "I don't want [Piqué] to see me as his wife. I'd rather him see me as his girlfriend. His lover, his girlfriend. It's like the forbidden fruit."
SHAKIRA AND GERARD PIQUE'S RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE
The singer and the football player first met on the set of Shakira's "Waka Waka" music video in 2010. At that time, Piqué was one of the several footballers who appeared in the famous clip and caught the performer's eye.
Shakira, who had no interest in the game, did not know who he was. However, she found him cute, while he was just as smitten.

"It all started when we were together in South Africa, and I wrote to her," Piqué said. "She was already there because she sang in the opening ceremony, and I asked her what the weather was like. It's the typical stupid question."
When Spain won the 2010 World Cup, Shakira sang at the final. The following year, they became an official couple and began sharing their relationship with the public.
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO SHAKIRA AND GERARD PIQUE HAVE?
The couple welcomed their first child, Milan Piqué Mebarak, on January 22, 2013. Two years later, on January 29, 2015, the pair had another son, Sasha Piqué Mebarak.
Being a mother was undoubtedly an incredible journey for the singer. However, parenthood was "one of the most difficult things" Shakira has done. According to the "Hips Don't Lie" songstress, her on-screen and live performances don't compare to the self-consciousness she felt as a mom. Shakira said:
"Every day, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. I just want to improve in the job; the hardest job on earth."
Milan and Sasha have caught the public's eye several times, including a special appearance in a 2015 soccer game. Other times, they pop up on Shakira's social media accounts and receive an overwhelming amount of adoration from fans.

Both boys grew up interested in music and sports, perhaps influenced by Shakira and Piqué's backgrounds. Some of the sports they play are basketball, tennis, and soccer.
HOW SHAKIRA'S DAD REACTED TO HER SPLIT?
Although still young, the kids are undoubtedly devastated to hear about their parents' split. Her 90-year-old father, William Mebarak Chadid, may not have taken the news so lightly as well.
Chadid suffered a terrible fall amidst the news of his daughter's separation. According to the performer, her father was rushed to the hospital via ambulance and recovered privately. However, she never said that the fall was related to her separation.
