‘Days of Our Lives’ Lauren Koslow Lost 3-Days-Old Son & Found Him Decades Later — Her Quiet Life Far from Cameras
Lauren Koslow, who plays Kate Roberts in the famed "Days of Our Lives," grew up in a happy atmosphere and always wanted the same for her children. Unfortunately, she got separated from her son only days after his birth. They eventually reunited decades later, and the actress now loves spending time with her family on her farm.
Actress Lauren Koslow rose to fame with her early appearances in the soap opera "The Young and the Restless," where she played the role of Lindsay Wells from 1984 to 1986.
She then landed the role of Margo Maclaine Lynley, a divorcée from Wisconsin who worked as the personal assistant to Eric Forrester, head of design house Forrester Creations, in the long-running soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." She held the role from 1987 to 1992.

In 1996, she bagged the role of Kate Roberts, matriarch of the Roberts family known to acquire whatever she wants through scheming in "Days of Our Lives."
Koslow’s Childhood — Growing Up in a Loving Home
Koslow was born in Quincy, Boston, where her paternal grandmother lived. For the initial years of her life, she lived in Boston with her family until they relocated to Newport, Rhode Island, then to Amherst, Massachusetts.
The actress worked her way through college before eventually finding her way to Hollywood. Throughout the years, she remained close to her parents and siblings.
Sadly, the actress lost her father, Donald MacAulay Koslow, in 2018. In commemorating her dad's life, the actress wrote a touching tribute, referring to him as her light and hero.
Koslow’s Career — Her Rise to the Top
Koslow began her acting career with touring theater work, where she took on roles in productions such as "Dial M for Murder," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." She turned to TV in the mid-80s, landing the role of Lindsay Wells on "The Young and the Restless."

Her love for soap operas was inherent, but she never imagined being a part of one. Her mother loved watching soap operas and she would always be glued to the TV whenever shows such as "As The World Turns," "The Secret Storm," and "Love of Life" came on.
A pre-teen at the time, Koslow and her sister would join in. She says her sister's favorite soap was "The Young and the Restless," so when she landed a part in the show, she was the first person the actress called.
Initially, the fashion-forward businesswoman and femme fatale Kate Roberts in "Days of our Lives" was played by a different actress, Deborah Adair, whose character had been off the air for months before Koslow stepped in.

Roberts' arch-nemesis in the show, Vivian Alamain, had poisoned the pilot of Roberts' plane, causing it to crash into the sea. And while fans thought that would be the sad end of Roberts' character, it was only the beginning.
In true soap opera fashion, Roberts was out at sea marooned on a desert isle and finding her way through the waters on a shaky raft. She was eventually rescued by a fishing trawler and earned her keep by cleaning fish before showing up at Victor Kiriaki's mansion. Koslow believes that was the best introduction of her character to the show.
Her character is a dedicated mom to her kids, a proficient businesswoman, and a fashionista. She also had many unsuccessful relationships, including with Roman Brady, Stefano DiMera, and Eduardo Hernandez, who Koslow says might be her character's true love.

She gets entangled romantically with mechanic-turned-CEO Jake DiMera, one-time serial killer André DiMera, crime fighter Rafe Hernandez, secret agent John Black, and corporate titan Victor Kiriakis. Still, when she's not chasing after love, she is a doting mom to her six children, Philip, Lucas, Billie, and Austin, and twins Rex and Cassie. She says of her character:
“She has a fierceness about her and can be protective and controlling with her family. She has lost so much, and that has made her children even more important to her.”
Despite being in the limelight for decades, Koslow does not thrive in the spotlight and prefers a quiet life on the farm. She enjoys spending time away from the cameras whenever she can avoid them.
Koslow’s Quiet Life Today and Reuniting with Her Lost Son
Away from the silver screens, Koslow leads a quiet life with her husband of 36 years and children. Koslow met her husband, award-winning make-up artist Nick Schillance on the set of "Young and the Restless." They married in 1987.
The family currently resides in Ventura, California, but the actress says that the Bay State has always been the family's base regardless of where they stay.
She is also a proud mother of three—Josh, Emilia Katerina, and Zacharia. The actress experienced a miracle firsthand when she reunited with her firstborn son, Josh, who was separated from her only days after birth.
In an Instagram post dated October 2021, Koslow disclosed that she was separated from her son three days after his birth and they remained apart for nearly a lifetime.
However, after decades of searching, she finally reunited with her long-lost son through an ancestry DNA match. Koslow wrote:
"Earlier this year, across the unfolding of time & space, we were reunited. I give thanks to the mystery of the miracle & an @ancestry DNA match. So here we are. We begin again."
The post showed intimate moments between mother and son as the actress revealed it was Josh's birthday and how grateful she felt for finally having her son back in her life.
She thanked her fans for supporting her in wishing her son a wonderful birthday, noting she was ever-so-grateful that she had a second chance at being a mother to Josh. She also sympathized with those who shared similar experiences, encouraging them to keep searching because love always wins:
"My heart goes out to you. I understand. I am honored to hear your story. You are not alone. Speak your truth and keep hope close."
She quoted the famous American memoirist, Maya Angelou, asking her fans to open their eyes to the beauty around them, to open their minds to the wonders of life and open their hearts to those who love them, and finally, always to remember to be true to themselves.
Even after decades of marriage, the actress is still as smitten with her husband as she was when she first walked down the aisle with him. She often posts emotional tributes to him, celebrating their milestones and giving him a shoutout on special days.
For Valentine's Day 2021, Koslow posted a heartfelt message, noting that while falling in love was easy, remaining in love for that many years can be complicated. Yet, they have stayed in love and have been able to show their loving power amidst the difficulties life has thrown at them. She added:
"To discover our loved one in a new exciting light is the true joy of a loving, lasting relationship."
The post was accompanied by a photo of the actress leaning on her husband, who stared right at the camera.
For his birthday, Koslow posted a series of photos of her family, captioning it with sweet words of birthday wishes and a myriad of love emojis, alongside a poem by famous American poet E.E. Cummings. The post read:
"Happy Birthday to my sweetheart, husband, lover, bestie, baby daddy, adventurer, warrior, fellow traveler, animal lover & pizza lover!! Forever & always."
When it comes to appreciating her family, she leaves no one behind. For her daughter Emilia Katarina's birthday, she posted an emotional tribute, looking back on the day she welcomed her daughter and how it was love at first sight. She referred to Katarina as kind, brilliant, joyful, and fierce:
"Always and forever more, my baby girl, my heart, my joy, my daughter, my bestie, my luscious libra."
A year earlier, she had posted a series of photos with her daughter on her birthday. The first was of the actress cuddling her newborn daughter, and another of her staring lovingly at Katarina hours after she was born. Several others showed Katarina through the years up until she was older. She captioned the post:
"Happy birthday to my extraordinary, fiercely brilliant, crazy funny, tender-hearted daughter. I love you — Milikate — forever and always."
In 2022, the actress celebrated her daughter as she married the love of her life at the Torre don Virgilio Country Hotel in Modica, Italy. She posted stunning photos of the September wedding showing the father of the bride walking her down the aisle.
She also captured the beautiful event in detail, from the bridesmaids and groomsmen posing for photos to the breathtaking scenes behind them.
In addition to doting on her babies, Koslow is a wonderful stepmom to her husband's son from a previous relationship. In October 2022, Koslow wrote a heartfelt birthday wish for her stepson:
"Happy birthday Louis. I love you & adore you and cherish our times together !! You ALWAYS make it happen in the best and most unexpected ways!"
A year earlier, she had wished Louis a wonderful birthday, describing him as a wonderful stepson to her and how lucky she was to have him in her life.
When she's not wowing her fans in "Days of our Lives" or doting on her children, the actress loves spending time on her farm, where she grows her vegetables and fruits.
A throwback photo from 2020 showed the actress flaunting her squash from her garden, while in another slide was a photo of her husband carrying their bountiful harvest on the back of a tractor.
Every so often, the actress will post a photo of her green garden, where she loves to grow her own organic food. That is, however, only part of the fun. Koslow also enjoys cooking for her family and is especially fond of the Thanksgiving holidays.
Often, she will post a photo of herself cooking the Thanksgiving turkey, all with a smile on her face. This she will do with the help of the rest of her family who also enjoy helping prepare other dishes while having a good time with song and dance.
Cooking and gardening are, however, not the only activities that the family partakes together. They also love trail-riding horses in pursuit of a wonderful time and making memories.
Despite a prolific career surrounded by the lights and glamor of Hollywood, the actress prefers a quiet farm life. Occasionally she will capture a stray bird resting on one of the trees on her farm, a perk of living within nature. She also loves walking her dogs at the local hiking spots far from maddening crowds.
She loves playing with her chihuahuas and posing for cute photos while holding her dogs. In September 2020, she posted a photo of herself holding a black chihuahua named Indiana, who she says they rescued from the shelter.
After 15 years together, Indiana died, and Koslow gave him a befitting tribute on her Instagram, alongside a photo of their wonderful moments together.
As she celebrated her 70th birthday on March 2023, Koslow can only count her blessings. She has had a wonderful run in her career as an accomplished actress and raised wonderful children.
In 2020, the actress posed from a gym and revealed she had resumed her workout routine using her long retired universal weight machine in a bid to keep fit and stay healthy.
To have lost her son, Josh and then reunite with him decades later is nothing short of a miracle, and the actress remains forever grateful that it was possible. She appreciates everything life offers, and her joy is evident in how she celebrates life with her family and friends.
As she marked another milestone, she understands that life can only get better and is certainly prepared for what it has to offer in days to come.
