Kane Brown's Siblings Heidi Swafford & CJ Cordell Have Faced Challenges in Life
Kane Brown's siblings came to the spotlight following their brother's fame. While Kane is now a successful singer, he and his siblings had a tough upbringing. Despite the ups and downs of life, they never gave up.
While growing up, Kane and his siblings spent most of their time with their grandfather, Steve Brown. Steve treasured every moment he had with his grandkids. He would take them to fun activities like camping and ball tournaments.
In 2019, Kane Brown's sister Heidi Swafford caught the public's attention following an attack that hospitalized her. According to reports, Swafford suffered from multiple wounds after a friend attacked her during a fight.
Heidi Swafford Is Kane Brown's Half-Sibling
Kane Brown's sister Swafford was born between 1996 and 1997, as she was 19 years old in 2016 when she got attacked.
Swafford is Kane's half-sibling from the paternal side, the two look alike, and whenever the singer posts a photo of them on social media, most fans note their resemblance to their father, who was a drummer before he got incarcerated in 1996.
Even though Kane and Cordell have different fathers, the two siblings have shared a strong bond since they were kids.
The two siblings have different mothers. Kane's mom is Tabatha Michelle Brown, while Swafford's mother is Roxanne Dodson.
Heidi Swafford Was Attacked in 2016
In 2016, Swafford, one of Kane Brown's siblings, was attacked after she got involved in an argument that turned violent. According to reports, Swafford, who was 19 then, was involved in a fight with a 16-year-old female said to be her "friend."
According to reports, the unidentified woman attacked Swafford, leaving her with multiple wounds on her neck. She was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault and attempted second-degree murder.
Even though the injuries were non-life threatening, the police report indicated they may have caused Swafford permanent nerve damage. Following the incident, Kane took to his Facebook page to express his frustrations about his sister's attack and requested his fans to pray for Heidi Swafford.
Kane Brown Also Has a Brother
Kane's biological father wasn't present in his life. When he went to prison, his mother primarily raised him. Life was hard, and they went through many struggles. They constantly moved to different homes, having been raised by a single mother who loved country music.
Sometimes they slept in a car because they didn't have a home. When Kane's mother remarried, the situation got worse as his stepfather wasn't kind to him.
In an exclusive interview with People in 2018, Kane spoke about his struggles as a kid. The "What Ifs" singer, born to a white mom and a black dad, revealed that he was once confused about his racial identity. He said:
"I'm biracial; I didn't know that until I was 7 or 8. I thought I was full white, which honestly, I can't even really say because I didn't see colors."
The country singer revealed he knew he was biracial when his peers at school started making fun of his skin color. At first, Kane would ignore the mockery, but it began to affect him when his peers called him the N-word.
CJ Cordell is Kane Brown's younger half-sibling from the maternal side. Even though Kane and Cordell have different fathers, the two siblings shared a bond as kids. They went camping, and their late grandfather occasionally took them on field trips.
Though less is known about Ken Brown's brother, based on his Facebook profile, he attended Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. He is married to Kristen Brooke, and they have a child. Cordell once shared a touching post of how he went through a challenging time in his life.
He revealed he was a violent person and always viewed life from a negative angle—something that led him to be imprisoned for almost a year. Cordell revealed that going through those challenges taught him important lessons and made him a changed man.
Kane is among the most promising country singers today. Others include Laine Hardy, Luke Combs, and Chris Stapleton, among others.
