Ashley Park's Parents Immigrated from South Korea

Sara and Andrew were still children when they left their home in South Korea and immigrated to California. Years later, the couple welcomed their eldest daughter in Glendale but relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan.

When Ashley was a little girl, she proved she inherited her mother's moves on the dance floor after signing up for dance classes.

During an interview, their eldest daughter revealed she rarely saw anybody from her Asian community growing up. The only time the actress and her younger sister, Audrey, saw people who shared their culture was at a Korean-American church they attended.

Earlier this year, Ashley was one of the many stars who gathered in Los Angeles for the Gold Gala, and the night proved to be extra special for the actress as it was the first gala she had attended with her parents.

The actress took to Instagram to share a photo dump capturing her night out with her mom and dad, including a few snaps of herself rubbing shoulders with other celebrities. Ashley donned a black and gold gown with triangular cuts outs, finished with pineapple detailing, and she revealed:

"I love that there are dazzling pineapples on my Roberto Cavalli look for tonight because they're my mom's favorite fruit. I'm so happy that she and my dad are my dates tonight."

Ashley Park Joked That Her Parents Are Tone-Deaf

When Ashley was a little girl, she proved she inherited her mother's moves on the dance floor after signing up for dance classes. According to the actress, Sara loves to dance and was also a cheerleader at UCLA.

During an interview, Ashley Park revealed she was related to Justin H. Min from Netflix's "Umbrella Academy" through her mother's side of the family.

However, while no one was surprised Ashley wanted to dance, Sara and Andrew were surprised their daughter could also sing. "They're tone deaf," Ashley joked. "They had no idea what the heck was going on."

Earlier this year, Ashley joined her predominantly Asian cast mates of "Joy Ride" at the film's premiere at the Fox Westwood Village Theatre and shared a picture of her, her parents, and her sister dressed to the nines outside the theatre.

In the caption, the "Emily in Paris" — co-starring Lily Collins, Lucien Leon Laviscounts, and Lucas Bravo — revealed the Fox Westwood Village Theatre was where her mother and father had their first date over three decades ago, and the "special full circle moment" brought the actress to tears. Ashley added in her caption:

"I'm profoundly grateful for so many reasons in this moment, but especially for my beautifully supportive and resilient family… I'm so happy that my dad insisted on seeing a movie to extend his first dinner date with my mom all those years ago… that she said yes."

Ashley Park's Mother Is Related to Another Celebrity

During an interview, Ashley Park revealed she was related to Justin H. Min from Netflix's "Umbrella Academy" through her mother's side of the family. The actress shared that she and Justin are second cousins, as his grandfather is Sara's father's oldest brother.

The two Hollywood stars only met for the first time a few years ago, and Ashley added, "It's just wild because we are both on these big Netflix shows, and we literally came from the same family."
