David Byrne built his career in the music industry and received several accolades as a testament to his talent and hard work. Since high school, Byrne has been showing interest in performing music. He later became a singer, songwriter, and composer, most recognized as the frontman of Talking Heads.

In 1987, Byrne won a Grammy Award and an Oscar for his soundtrack in the film "The Last Emperor." He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his other band members. In his 70s, Byrne continues to perform and record music. He remains single, focusing on his career, after divorcing Adelle Lutz.

Unlike many artists in the industry, Byrne only married one woman, actress and costume designer Adelle Lutz, in 1987. Lutz is famously known for "Beetlejuice," "The Silence of the Lambs," and "Something Wild."

The couple kept their lives under wraps, but Byrne reportedly penned a song about his then-wife. According to the singer, "This Must Be the Place" was a "very personal love song" explicitly written about someone. He said about the first love song he had composed:

"I didn't try to compose this time and say 'love is nice.'"

Sadly, a few years and one daughter, Malu, later, the pair divorced. Byrne revealed his 2004 separation was quite challenging to handle. Admittedly, they both said hurtful things at that time, creating a messy divorce. However, he and Lutz developed a friendship years later.

Despite their separation, one person will always connect Lutz and Byrne--their only daughter, Malu. Lutz and her then-husband welcomed Malu Abeni Valentine Byrne in 1989. The couple had to adapt to life with a child as new parents.

The artist admitted parenthood was no easy feat and had to navigate it daily. While there were many books about becoming a father, he realized he had to figure it out himself. Nevertheless, becoming a dad also brought him beautiful memories and a new perspective on life. He shared:

"You kind of relive your own life, in some ways, vicariously through this young person who's discovering the world, and discovering other people, and discovering themselves."

Byrne has since learned the ropes of being a good parent. He is now a doting grandfather to Malu's son, who is familiar with his work as a musician. Byrne sometimes plays instruments for his grandson while watching him dance.

David Byrne's daughter did not follow in his footsteps as a musician. Instead, Malu owns a jewelry line, En, alongside Rick Van Steain Low. She is a star in her own right while navigating motherhood, as seen on her Instagram page. Her father is undoubtedly proud of her.

David Byrne Was Linked to Several Famous Women after His Divorce

Since his divorce, Byrne never tied the knot again. However, he was linked to several women in previous years, including photographer Cindy Sherman, whom he dated. The duo met through a mutual friend and dated until 2011.

After their relationship, Byrne was linked to Annie Clark, a musician who collaborated with him on the album "Love This Giant." However, neither Byrne nor Clark confirmed their relationship.

Clark is known as St. Vincent in the music industry and has two Grammy Awards. Before reportedly dating Byrne, Clark was in a rumored relationship with Lissy Trullie.

Like Byrne, several artists only tied the knot once, including Jon Bon Jovi. Fortunately, Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea Hurley, surpassed their marriage challenges and remained in love after several years.
