CC Babcock from 'The Nanny', 64, Shocks with Her Face Pic - She Hid Pregnancy & Quit Career for Daughter
- Lauren Lane hid her pregnancy at 37 while starring as C.C. Babcock on "The Nanny."
- She quit Hollywood to raise her only child.
- At 64, the retired actress shocks fans with her new social media photo.
Lauren Lane was born Laura Lane in Oklahoma before changing it because someone else in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) had already used her birth name. The actress was raised in ordinary circumstances in Texas before she became C.C Babcock in "The Nanny."
The star once revealed that she was born into a lower-middle-class family. Lauren's parents never anticipated a brighter life for her and didn't think she'd do something meaningful later in life, so she grew up without any pressure from them to perform well.

However, the actress pressured herself and got a bachelor's degree from Arlington's University of Texas. The star never held herself back and continued studying at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater.
Luckily, she was offered a development deal by an NBC television scout. Lauren took the agreement to become an actor as she had $65,000 in graduate debt to pay, and out of everyone in her class, she was the only one who got to go to Los Angeles.

In November 1993, "The Nanny" received modest ratings when it premiered on CBS but quickly grew in popularity. After being on television for six seasons, it became a 1990s classic, and the actress could pay her bills and save money.
The change was drastic for the poor graduate student, and Lauren never lost sight of that. After the show's summer hiatus before filming season 5, the star informed producers that she was pregnant with David Wilkins' child.
Instead of writing her pregnancy into the series, as per Lauren's wishes, her baby bump was hidden under giant props and oversized jackets. However, the actress felt they weren't doing a good job hiding it as she was one of those women whose belly showed in skin-tight dresses.

She felt she was built to conceive, and when she left the show to give birth to her daughter, Kate, the show tried explaining her character's absence. Babcock was said to have suffered a breakdown over Fran (Fran Drescher's character) and Maxwell's (Charles Shaugnessy's character) engagement before being taken to a mental hospital, with Lauren stating:
"In real life, I had my daughter, and I was back on set in two weeks. It felt like an obligation."
The actress struggled with leaving her newborn child as a new mother and suffered from postpartum depression. The mother of one struggled with trying to be funny and "feeling like a whale," but she brought Kate on set and breastfed between takes.

Lauren gave birth to her daughter on February 27, 1998, at age 37. After welcoming her child, the actress's perspective changed, and Kate became her focus, especially when she was forced to be a single parent.
How Did Lauren Become a Single Mother after Quitting "The Nanny?"
When she was over 40, Lauren found it difficult to find decent work and was tired of the chase before deciding to focus on being a mother to her child. The actress and David were married the same year their daughter was born, but they divorced in 2009.
Being a single parent, the comedian relocated to Austin, where she raised her daughter and never left. The star got a job at Texas State University as a tenured professor and returned to her first love - theater.
Lauren confessed that she made a new life for herself but still had people asking her if she was still acting. Kate's mother felt like the question implied they were asking if she was a failure, as she could elaborate on her answer in detail.
The actress felt like a changed woman but was proud of herself and believed things would improve! In May 2020, the star uploaded an Instagram collage of her daughter when she was a baby and now an adult, and showed how much Kate was loved, writing:
"You came and taught me everything about love."
The month before, Lauren uploaded a lovely photo of her and her daughter in Central Park. The star enjoyed her daughter's company so much that she mentioned missing being in the city with her.
The actress was eager for their next adventure after the COVID-19 pandemic passed. She also sent support to her New York City friends and the emergency workers, wishing them all health and safety.
In December 2018, Kate's mother shared another Instagram of her sitting in front of some flowers and described her as her "everything." That same year and month, the star uploaded another photo of her daughter with someone else, wished them a happy anniversary, and said the two were "my favorite people."
Another concerned follower said, "OH NOOOO!!!! What happened!!!!"
In 2023, Lauren left her fans disturbed when she revealed what she looked like, and it left those who loved her concerned. The update had something to do with her face, but she didn't go into much detail about what happened.
Why Does Lauren's Face Shock Fans at 64?
On March 16, 2023, Lauren shared two Instagram images of her in Miami Beach, Florida. The first photo was a lovely and tranquil view of a sunset and the beachfront water below it, with the image seemingly taken from the actress' room.
Included in the picture were two chairs on a porch facing the beach, seen through an open sliding door. Kate's mother didn't explain what her visit was for, but she did urge her followers to swipe to the next photo "for a surprise."

The surprise she was referring to was an image of her with slightly ruffled gray hair as she sat on a chair outside. The star had on several band-aids over one of her eyes, leaving only one eye open, leading one fan to ask:
"Jesus Christ! What??"
