Al Roker has had an uphill battle with both his knees for over twenty years following a car accident and a struggle with his weight. The "Today" weatherman has had the support of his "Today" colleagues and shared things were looking up ahead of his next trip to the hospital.

In a recent Instagram post, Roker revealed that he had experienced his "#bestdayyet" after he had completed over 13,000 steps on what he humorously called his "#bumknee." The "NBC Today" weatherman shared a picture of his step-tracking apple watch as proof of his progress and ended the Instagram caption with, "Thanks to my #starttoday #family for the support!"

Roker shared his first update on his troublesome knees— one of which is due for another replacement surgery— a few days ago when he revealed he had completed over 11,000 steps. Although a whopping 10,000 used to be no big deal for Roker, he was making his way back to his usual standard and revealed it was the first time in a while that he had "felt good" while walking so much.

Roker's first knee replacement surgery came in 2001 following a car accident and a battle with his weight. After the surgery, Roker experienced complications that saw his hospital stay last 11 days. However, a month later, after "tough rehabilitation," he was back on the air and his usual happy self.

In 2016, Roker found himself back in the hospital for surgery on the opposite knee. However, the father of three quickly made great strides in his recovery, as he was already walking two days post-op with some help. "I'm feeling great, thanks to this terrific team here," Roker shared.

Unfortunately, in late 2022, Roker revealed he was scheduled for another knee replacement surgery. He made light of the situation and posted a video of himself in blue shorts provided to him by the hospital, and jokingly said the best part of getting X-rays was the "really hot look!"

The bad news was that after his doctor drained the fluid in Roker's knee, he told the weatherman that he would need another knee replacement surgery scheduled for April.

However, according to Al Roker's doctor, knee replacement surgeries are common nowadays. As more people are told to work out and stay active, patients are experiencing worn-out joints sooner in life and are left in need of replacement surgeries.
