Al Roker Achieves Health Milestone after ‘Tough’ Recovery since Hospitalization

Al Roker took 11,184 steps yesterday! This is a milestone for the weather anchor. His hospitalization in November 2022 due to complications with a blood clot kept him from doing a scheduled knee surgery earlier this year.

Holding up his smartwatch with his impressive step count in a March 22, 2023 update, Al Roker wrote, "Before my left knee went south, a 10k+ step day was no big deal. Today was the first day; I felt good walking this much." He added that the replacement of a 22-year-old knee replacement is on the horizon.

The "TODAY" host's feat inspired his following, one fan writing, "Al, you can do anything, and you proved that 100 x over. You give us all Hope." A second fan added, "Way to get back in the saddle." A third prayed for his "continued good health and a successful knee replacement and recovery."

Al Roker's Last Surgery Experiences Were the 'Hardest' Ones Yet

A few weeks after his hospitalization, Al gave "TODAY" a virtual update, admitting that it had been "a tough slog" and his "hardest" hospital stint yet. He had a "profound sense of gratitude for the outpouring of prayers," thanking his work colleagues for their visits to the hospital.

Deborah Roberts jovially declared her hubby "bonkers" in the comments.

He quipped that he thinks Hoda Kotb was named an honorary doctor, always showing up like "Ho-dini." The weatherman was at New York-Presbyterian Hospital for four weeks. Savannah Guthrie called his wife, Deborah Roberts, a "warrior" who has kept them in the loops with Al's recovery.

Besides his strong recovery, Al has much to be excited about. Last Wednesday, he reposed his daughter Courtney Roker's video announcing her pregnancy. The first time grandpa wrote that he could not be happier for the couple but gave an ominous warning:

"Now begins the revenge of the Dad. Spoiling this kid rotten, then handing the baby back. Hahahhahahahaha."

On Monday, Al Roker, or rather "Dr. Roker," gave his following a diagnosis on Instagram: "As of 5:24 p.m. ET, you've got #springfever !!!" And if you weren't exposed before, his infectious energy came through in the video where he bobbed along to Orleans' "Spring Fever."
