Amy Sedaris Is Not Married – She Had a Long-Term Partner Paul Dinello but They Broke Up

Actress and comedian Amy Sedaris has been making headlines with her performance on television and in films since the 1990s. However, much of her personal life has been kept under wraps, and she has never had a husband.

The actress rose to prominence playing Jerri Blank in "Strangers with Candy," a comedy series on Comedy Central. Sedaris and Dinello first met at Second City in 1988. The two performed there alongside future television star Stephen Colbert, known primarily for hosting "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on CBS. While there, the trio began collaborating on some performances, but their relationship did not remain strictly business.

Sedaris and Dinello began mixing business with pleasure as they began dating during those days. Dinello recalled the origins of their love story in an interview with BuzzFeed in 2017, saying:

"We both went to the training center at Second City. I went to go see her show, and even though it was 12 people, it was essentially a one-woman show. She was just a force in that show. Her character work was already so mature. I couldn't believe it."

The couple remained together for almost a decade before they ended their romantic relationship. However, the conclusion of their romance did not significantly affect their professional relationship as they continued to work together.

In 2017, Dinello was instrumental in helping Sedaris launch her comedy show, "At Home with Amy Sedaris." It aired on truTV for three seasons, and Dinello continued to work alongside Sedaris as an executive producer and writer on the show. Dinello married Danielle St. Laurent in 2011 after meeting at one of Sedaris' shoots.

Amy Also Has a Close Friendly Relationship with Stephen Colbert

While appearing on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in February 2019, Sedaris comically revealed that she was unmarried and had no children. After asking for a studio tour, Sedaris implied that she didn't have time as she had children and a husband to get to before saying she had plenty of time shortly after.

That was in the true spirit of the friendship that Sedaris and Stephen Colbert have shared for a long time. The two television personalities have known each other for over three decades. Colbert mentioned that at some point in their relationship, they talked on the phone every day for 15 years.

Dinello, who also served as a producer on Stephen Colbert's show, was in the crowd, and it revealed that Sedaris was the godmother of Dinello and St. Laurent's two children, John Paul and Luca. Therefore, the trio has remained close both personally and professionally since the late 80s.

Amy Also Hangs Out with Her Close Friend Justin Theroux

Sedaris is also close friends with another famous Hollywood face Justin Theroux. In May 2018, they were spotted out and about in New York City. There was nothing formal about their meet-up as Theroux wore black jeans and boots, and a t-shirt that showed off his toned biceps.

Sedaris wore a simple but elegant blue and white plaid shirt dress and gray leggings. The pair grabbed iced drinks and were photographed getting ready to board a cab. Earlier in the year, they accompanied each other to the Adam Selman fashion show, and Theroux supported his friend by making a guest appearance on her show.

Like with Colbert and Dinello, Sedaris has also been friends with Theroux for a long time. She was his "best man" at his 2015 wedding with Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston. Unfortunately, the pair have separated, but the Sedaris-Theroux friendship is still strong.

When It Comes to Romantic Relationships, Amy Appears to Be Single

Sedaris's romantic life is one of the most well-kept secrets. The comedian does not discuss details along those lines, and there have not been many rumors about her love life.
