Edward Wesley Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers' father, who was once a football player. He has since pursued a different career, although still related to sports. Sadly, Edward and Aaron had a falling out in the early 2010s for reasons undisclosed to the public.

Although now famously known as Aaron Rodgers' father, Edward Wesley Rodgers was once known as an athlete himself.

He is the father of three children, Luke, Aaron, and Jordan, who inherited his athleticism. Of the three, Aaron's career in the NFL, playing for the Green Bay Packers, is the most prominent in the spotlight.

Edward Wesley Rodgers Played on a Football Team

Born in 1955, Edward came from the small town of Lompoc in Southern California. Like his son, he was also a football player at Chico, positioned on the offensive line.

Edward played for a semiprofessional California League team and tried joining the Canadian Football League. Although his team took home the gold back-to-back at the national championships, he ultimately stopped his football career after college.

Because of Edward's interest in the sport, his children also grew fond of it. At two years old, his son, Aaron, would already watch NFL games at home.

Instead of football, Edward pursued a medical path, still involved in sports. He became a Sports Injury Specialist and Traditional Chiropractor, serving different cities and communities.

Edward takes pride in his practice and treats his patients by addressing the underlying causes of pain and not just its symptoms.

Edward, an American College Sports Medicine member, studied his practice at Chico State University. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science and a Masters's degree in Exercise Physiology.

Edward Rodgers Has Been Married for over 40 Years

In 1980, Edward married Darla Pittman Rodgers. Edward's wife was also an athlete in her younger years. She was a cheerleader and a basketball player who went to college at Sacramento State University and California State University. She said:

"I think that my guys did get some of my dancer qualities. You have to know where you are in time and space when you're dancing, and they definitely are running for their lives."

Edward and Darla later welcomed their firstborn son, Luke Rodgers. Their second child, Aaron, followed soon after. Their youngest son is Jordan.

Edward Rodgers' Relationship with Aaron Rodgers

In 2016, Bleacher Report revealed Aaron no longer had a relationship with his family. According to an insider once close to the football player, Aaron hadn't contacted his family since December 2014.

During those years, Edward and Darla reportedly didn't even have their son's cellphone number, and when they sent Aaron and his girlfriend Christmas gifts, the presents were only mailed back.

It appeared that Aaron had cut off several people from his life. He previously backed out of his duty as a groomsman at the last minute of his close friend's wedding, didn't attend his grandfather's funeral, with whom he had a tight bond, and fired his longtime business manager.

As of 2017, Edward's family and Aaron were still not on good terms. Aaron had declined to comment on their relationship, but Edward had a few words to share: "Fame can change things."

While he has a strained relationship with Aaron, Edward is praised by his other children. His eldest son, Luke, referred to the older Rodgers as his "hero," whom he credits for raising him to be a good husband, father, and person.
