While Ozzy Osbourne's caption reads "Happy Easter," the accompanying vintage photos he posted on Sunday give Halloween. A fan branded the images of a twenty-something Prince of Darkness in a fluffy bunny suit "terrifying."

"Ozzy is cutie patootie," one wrote of Ozzy Osbourne holding an Easter egg basket as he gives a wholesome wave with his furry paw. His dark-lined eyes were the only clue that this was not someone you'd hire as entertainment for an egg hunt.

For fans, he was the "Best Easter Bunny," or as one supporter adequately captured the look, "The Easter bunny of darkness." An Instagram user wrote, "Happy Easter to our forever Prince of Darkness and your entire family."

Ozzy's nickname, 'The Prince' of Darkness,' was born from the crazy response fans had during live performances of Black Sabbath's eponymous single, which he deems "the scariest song ever written" per NME. He explained that people thought the band was "Satan's [expletive] friends or something."

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne believed that the "Paranoid" singer still has a tour in him.

Photographer Mark Weiss wrote that the wacky photos started with a directive from Sharon Osbourne to do a shoot with her husband that will land him on magazine covers, and Faces magazine was willing to give him the platform as long as it was "different."

Mark and a colleague conceptualized a Mother's Day spin of Ozzy's album cover. During the shoot, the Black Sabbath frontman inquired about a rabbit costume left over from another photographer's work in the shared space. Catching Sharon's eye, Mark pivoted to an Easter-themed shoot. He told Ozzy:

"'Let's hop to it and get started!' Sharon laughed and said, 'Have fun, boys! I'm going shopping.' That's when I first heard Ozzy scream, 'Sharrrrron!'"

The playful throwback snaps are a welcome distraction for Ozzy supporters who learned earlier this year that their idol would not be "physically capable" of going on tour. The 74-year-old tweeted on February 1, 2023, that the injuries sustained from a 2019 accident have left him "physically weak."

Speaking to The Guardian on the tail of his triumphant performance at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in his hometown of Birmingham in August 2022, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne believed that the "Paranoid" singer still has a tour in him.

Sharon Osbourne insists that their decision to move back to the U.K. in 2022 after years of making Los Angeles home was unrelated to her husband's poor health. She explained that The U.S. has changed drastically, "It's a very weird place to live right now."
