Rosie O'Donnell Praised for Being a 'Natural Mom' after Posting TBT Pic with Daughter Dakota

Rosie O'Donnell proved she is not only a talented comedian but also a "natural mom" after sharing a sweet picture of her and her daughter. After welcoming Dakota O'Donnell, Rosie learned her daughter was autistic and has candidly spoken about raising a child with the condition.

Rosie took a trip down memory lane in a recent Instagram post after sharing a photo of herself wearing a smile as she posed for the camera alongside a baby Dakota. "8 years ago today #dakota," Rosie captioned the post, which received over 4,000 likes at the time of writing.

In the comments section, fans praised Rosie, who lost her mom to cancer, for her natural skill as a mother, with one person commenting, "You're the best mom," and another sharing, "Adorable. U r such a natural mom (sic)." A third typed, "Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us," and a fourth fan shared the same sentiment, "It's a joy to watch her grow up. Thank you for sharing."

For other fans, it was like they blinked, and Dakota was all grown up. "Wow. Kids grow SO fast," one user commented, and another shared, "My youngest baby is ten. Time goes by so fast." Rosie took to Twitter to announce the birth of her daughter and wrote, "We r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota - #withloveandthanks - AMEN (sic)."

In 2022, the comedian opened up about the moment she found out Dakota is autistic. Although Rosie admitted that she had suspected her daughter might have been autistic, as she did not respond to having her name called, it still felt like she had been "punched in the stomach." Rosie said:

"I had to give myself a moment to go, 'Okay, we're going to figure out how to get through it.' For me — it's like an angel fell into my life... I'm not taking away from the pain and hardship that this diagnosis brings to families... It's not easy — but it's necessary to let them know they are seen."

Dakota is only one of Rosie's children. The mother of five first became a mom after she adopted her son, Parker O'Donnell, in 1995. Rosie adopted her second child, Chelsea Belle O'Donnell, a few years later. However, the comedian and her eldest daughter have not always had the best relationship.

Rosie O'Donnell's family grew once more after she adopted her second son, Blake Christopher O'Donnell, with her then-partner. And the second to youngest of the O'Donnell family is Rosie's second daughter, Vivienne Rose O'Donnell.
