The "Falling Down" star wore a navy blue suit with a black button-up shirt under it; his son had a semi-casual outfit. Dylan wore a grey suede blazer, blue pants, and a blue and back striped shirt. He finished off the look with a beaded necklace and black sneakers.

It was rare for the father and son to be photographed together, and fans were shocked at how much Michael looked like Kirk. "Michael Douglas looks just like his dad! Great picture of Father and Son!" said a fan.

Kirk Douglas Was His Son’s Biggest Supporter

Michael and Kirk had a close relationship, so Michael was distraught when his father died. However, Kirk was lucky to have lived long enough to see his children grow old.

The legendary actor died when he was 103 years old, and Michael only had good things to say about him following his death. "There wasn't anyone like him…and Dad was one of a kind," said Michael.

Not only was Kirk an idol for Michael, but he loved to crack jokes and tease him. Sometimes when he was on the phone with Michael, he would say, "Enough with you; let me talk to your wife." Until his last day, he was a flirt, according to Michael.

Though Michael and Kirk were close, their relationship was not always perfect. The father and son had a few hurdles to overcome to get their relationship to where it was. Michael revealed that he refused to call Kirk "dad" at some point.

Since Kirk was a well-sought-after actor, his job took up a lot of his time and, in turn, affected his family life. There was a time when he was doing up to five movies a year, and Michael confessed that he felt that his father spent time with them out of guilt, especially after he ended his marriage with Diana, Michael's mother.

Splitting his time between Michael and his brother Joel, it started to take a toll on Kirk's relationship with his sons.

However, in 1962, Kirk suffered a stroke and had to be under the care of his son Michael. He came out of the experience a better man and built a closer connection with his children.

In 2010, Michael also suffered a throat cancer diagnosis, which added a building block to their tight-knit relationship.

Michael acknowledged his father's support and said he visited him almost daily. "We're becoming the father and son we never were," expressed the actor then.
