Liza's parents are Jose Koshy, a petroleum executive, and Jean Carol, a yoga instructor. During a 2018 interview, where she also touched on her former romance with David Dobrik, Liza revealed that her parents were strict about academics throughout her schooling career. At one point, her dad took her phone away, so she could focus on studying for her SATs. This nearly paused her content creation, but Liza sneakily continued on her iPad.

Not long after, her dad proposed that she move to Los Angeles to explore the entertainment industry, which she took as quite a surprise. Jose and Jean supported their daughter wholeheartedly and would even send her video ideas, though she never used them because they were "pretty bad."

Liza has a loving relationship with her mom, whom she sometimes brings as a date to public events. In August 2017, the two enjoyed a weekend, attending a Giving Keys meet-and-greet and that year's VMAs. Liza took to Instagram to gush about how gorgeous her mom looked at the event, alongside a photo of them both beaming in their evening attire.

In September 2019, the pair visited Florence, Italy. Alongside a picture of them taken from afar, Liza wrote, "Thank you, mommy. for using your ovary oven to make yourself some friends. (sic)" Last year in July, Jean was Liza's date once again at the Dior fashion show in Paris.

Jose may not be as public as his wife, but his daughter has celebrated her love for him online and poked fun at him too. In June 2020, Liza quipped, "Happy daughters awareness day • thank you for giving me this life... and you're VERY welcome for giving you this gray hair. (sic)." She wrote the humorous caption alongside an image of herself and her dad matching in black suits.
