A Look Into David Dobrik's Private Life
After a public relationship and breakup with a fellow YouTuber, David Dobrik took his time getting back into the dating scene. He teased fans into thinking he was dating his assistant, but after he denied those rumors, fans were left wondering who David Dobrik's girlfriend was.
Dobrik made a name for himself when he started posting popular vines in high school; the video-sharing app's popularity died down. After graduating, he decided to move to Los Angeles and start a career on Youtube.
His presence on social media skyrocketed soon after, and when his videos did not feature Kendall and Kylie Jenner, they documented his life with his friends, who were known as the Vlog Squad.
Outside of YouTube, Dobrik had a podcast with Jason Nash, who was part of the Vlog Squad; Dobrik also had a merchandise line called Clickbait and various endorsement deals that brought his net worth to an estimated $15 million.
His content consisted of pranks, gifting his friends with lavish items, and spending large amounts of money. As he became more famous, Dobrik hired Natalie Matiduena as his assistant. Matiduena was not a social media celebrity like Dobrik, but she knew him from high school.
They became good friends, and although her job consisted of fetching him coffee and answering calls, fans were convinced the YouTube star was dating his assistant. They posted what fans considered romantic pictures and added fuel to the fire when Matiduena moved from Chicago and decided to move in together.
In December 2018, Dobrik bought Matiduena a car; they stood with their arms around each other and wore big smiles in front of a white Mercedes-Benz with a large red bow. But during an interview in 2019, Dobrik set the record straight and said:
"I'm very, very far from being in a relationship again."
The close friends/ co-workers were together during the pandemic, and Dobrik said despite being "stuck inside" together for a long time, there never came a time, nor would there ever come a time that they would "hook up."
David Dobrik's Exes
Despite denying rumors that he was dating Matiduena, Dobrik did admit to having a crush on her in high school. He confessed in 2019 and recalled her asking him to a high school dance during Freshman year.
He was a nervous wreck after Matiduena had asked him as he had feelings for her. The day after the dance, Dobrik tried to tell Matiduena he thought she looked pretty in her dress but succumbed to fear.
He never got it off his chest and admitted he was grateful he didn't, as it would've made their friendship awkward. He called his crush on Matiduena "stupid" and "dumb"; over the years, he matured, and their relationship was "different." He said to Matiduena of his crush on her:
"You would have thrown up probably. You would have thrown up on my face."
In 2020, Dobrik was romantically linked to Charlotte D'Alessio; they starred alongside each other for a perfume ad where the concept was them as a couple on a date. When the ad sparked relationship rumors, Dorbrik humorously said he was excited to hear he had a new girlfriend, and when he texted D'Alessio, she confirmed that the talks were not true.
He admitted to liking the model and thought she liked him back, but they were "not there" yet. Dobrik was also linked to Lori Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade, after his breakup from his only confirmed relationship with Liza Koshy.
Fans thought he was daring Jade after videos of her spending time at his house surfaced. Dobrik's rep confirmed that the girl in the video fans thought was Jade was Madison Beer.
And while Dobrik and Jade never confirmed their relationship, fans were speculating again and claimed Dobrik had rejected Beer's advances. On his podcast, Views with Nash, Dobrik cleared the air and revealed that he hated the rumors that he turned down Beer:
"I hate the whole rejection thing. Like I hate that people are like, 'this is the girl who David rejected.'"
When Beer asked him if he had ever rejected her, he said "no" and explained that they never dated and that was "the only story." In 2019, Dobrik tied the knot at a Vegas wedding before his rumored romances with Beer.
After Nash said Dobrik would never find love and get married, the YouTube star flew to Nash's house and married his mother, Lorraine Nash. He shared the news of their separation in an Instagram post shortly after, where he wrote:
"I am heartbroken to announce that Lorraine and I have decided to end our romantic relationship."
Their marriage lasted for a month, and Dobrik revealed that he spent over $30 000 on the wedding and the divorce. Despite his marriage and alleged romances, Dorbrik had only been in one public relationship. He dated Koshy from 2015 until 2018, when they released an emotional breakup YouTube video that garnered over 50 million views at the time of writing.
Although Koshy initiated the breakup, it was a mutual decision; they shared that they had things that needed work. Almost two years after their split, Dobrik admitted to spending time with Koshy and that they chose to remain "best friends." Dobrik said of their separation:
"It wasn't healthy for us to continue to be together. She felt like we've been distant because we've been so busy. As much as I hate to admit it, I was feeling it on my side too."
They decided to part ways after growing apart due to their busy work schedules; they lived separate lives and struggled to come to terms with the truth. They did not share the news with anyone as they were "angry" at the fact that they had grown apart in the first place.
After his divorce from Lorraine, David Dobrik said he would take his time before he jumped back into the dating scene. And while he was taking his time when it came to dating, Dobrik said he knew exactly what he was looking for:
"Someone that's self-aware, that's what's most important to me."
