Pauly Shore first gained popularity in the late 1990s, but over time, rumors about his sexuality have affected his reputation, mainly because of his striking and humorous personality.

Despite these rumors —which he often addresses on stage— Shore has been linked to many female celebrities and was in a relationship with a late adult film star.

The Los Angeles native has also appeared in several blockbuster films, including "Encino Man," with actors Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser, putting him on the Hollywood radar.

Pauly Shore Jokes about Him Being Gay and It Causes Misunderstandings

Shore's ascent to stardom was not without controversy and confusion. The comedian's sexuality has been a topic of public discussion for some time, and he often addresses the rumors on stage.

During a stand-up comedy performance in April 2022, Shore made fun of the rumors directed at him. He told the crowd that someone asked him if he was gay because of the way he walked and talked.

Shore seemed fearless on stage. He never shied away from making jokes about his name, which some may have perceived as feminine, and even demonstrated flamboyant gestures.

He also joked that one thing he cannot do, commonly associated with gay men, is making deep gurgling sounds. He had made similar remarks in the past.

TMZ had recorded a video of Shore walking in the street with a male companion during Memorial Day. In the clip, Shore stated that the man beside him was his "boyfriend."

In 2017, Shore uploaded a photo of himself on Twitter with a message that read, "I think I'm gay now. Any first-time responders?" In addition to that, Shore posted on Instagram in April 2023 a picture of himself dressed in a white robe with colorful feathers hung around his neck.

Pauly Shore Had a Wife, but It Didn't Last Long

In Esquire's September 2020 "Explain This" video, Shore addressed his marital status. He confirmed that he had been married in the past, but the relationship was very short-lived.

He wed during his self-titled MTV show and had a contest where he invited people to marry him. He received thousands of letters and chose a lucky woman named Cammie to marry and divorce on the same day.

Cammie flew from a small town in the middle of the country, and they had a legal wedding. However, they had to nullify the marriage afterward. Shore claimed they were already divorced by the time she boarded a plane. "At least I think I'm divorced," he said.

Many people continue to wonder if Shore has ever been in a relationship. In a 1994 interview, he explained why he never had a girlfriend:

"It's like almost impossible for me not to cheat on a girlfriend because of the situation I'm in. When I go on the road, I'll meet this hot chick and she will want to be with me, or she won't want to be with me but just hang with me."

Shore also mentioned that he could not handle the guilt of going home and seeing his girlfriend, knowing she was faithful to him, while he had not. However, despite his earlier statement, he managed to have a relationship years later.

However, he confirmed his relationship with Shannon "Savannah" Wilsey, an adult film star who he dated for 11 months in 1992. Sadly, Wilsey's life ended tragically in 1994, which deeply affected Shore.

The comedian recalled being with her when Wilsey died in the hospital. He spoke about his late girlfriend, describing her as the "nicest, most beautiful girl" he had ever met.

Considering Shore's past romantic relationships, his brief marriage, and having had a porn star as a girlfriend, it can be implied that he is not gay.

Shore is one of the male celebrities whose fans speculate about their sexuality. Other notable stars subjected to similar rumors include Cameron Monaghan, Conan Gray, and journalist David Muir.
