Riley Keough Calls Lisa Marie 'the Best’ Mom in Mother’s Day Tribute
Riley Keough remembered her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, in a touching Mother's Day tribute. The "Daisy Jones and the Six" actress only spoke of praises when it came to Lisa Marie as a mom.
Sunday marked the first time Riley, 33, celebrated the special occasion without her mom. She commemorated the holiday by sharing a throwback snap with her dad, Danny Keough, and Lisa Marie holding her as a baby.
In the heartwarming Instagram post, she wrote, "Lucky to have had the best and most deeply loving mama I could have asked for 💕."
The late songwriter, the only child of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, passed away on January 12 at 54 after suffering from cardiac arrest.
Riley remained silent following her mom's death, but she did share a throwback photo with Lisa Marie via Instagram with only a heart emoji as the caption.
Days later, "The Girlfriend Experience" alum unveiled the last photo taken of her and her mother. Riley showed their uncanny resemblance and added in her caption, "I feel blessed to have a photo of the last time I saw my beautiful mama. Grateful @georgieflores took this. ❤️"
Riley Keough Celebrated Her First Mother's Day as a Mom Herself
The special day would also mark the first time the actress celebrated Mother's Day as a parent. Riley and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, who got married in 2015, revealed the birth of their daughter in January, but the baby's exact birth date remains unknown.
However, the couple kept their child a secret because her family's life has been public "in every other way."
The new parents are reportedly not closing the door on having more children in the future. "The possibility of more kids is something that both Riley and Ben are very open to in the near future," a source said.
At Lisa Marie's memorial service, Riley expressed her hopes of becoming a loving mom like the singer. In her eulogy read by Smith-Petersen, she said:
"Thank you for showing me that love is the only thing that matters in this life. I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters."
Priscilla, Riley, and twin daughters Finley Aaron Love and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood survived the "Lights Out" songstress, who lost her son Benjamin in 2020.
