De Niro and his girlfriend joined singer and bassist Sting and his wife Trudie Styler for lunch in Saint-Paul-de-Vence on May 23, 2023. De Niro, wearing a white shirt, grey trousers, a black ballcap, and sunglasses was spotted holding hands with Chen who also wore sunglasses and a bright yellow shirt paired with a white skirt. Her long black hair was held with a band and flowed freely to her mid-back.

De Niro and Chen Slammed for Abandoning Their Baby

Online users who saw De Niro and his girlfriend on their double date took to social media to slam them for leaving their newborn so soon. According to some comments, the two, who have been enjoying their time in France, left their baby with a nanny to go for the trip.

One person mocked the couple, saying they weren't good parents because they were "already abandoning their baby with a nanny!" "Poor baby," another person chimed.

More people accused De Niro and his girlfriend of using nannies to raise their kids just because they were rich. "He's paying the nanny to raise his responsibility. [The] kid might grow up fatherless and screwed up. But at least it will be wealthy," one individual noted, while another concurred:

"Only issue I'd have is why is she not home spending those very important days/weeks with her newborn.. and him too! Regardless of age etc! Just because they've money and probably nannys etc. I feel for the baby in that respect."
