Rossellini began her modeling career decades ago when she was 28, but fans still think she is gorgeous. Her photos show how gracefully she has aged over the years, and she confessed what growing older made her feel.
"Aging brings a lot of happiness," she revealed in an interview with The Guardian. The model explained that growing older allows one to do what their heart desires because they now know they don't have much time to live.
She admitted that seeing wrinkles on one's skin isn't the best experience, nor is gaining weight, and she understands why people opt for surgical procedures to remove signs of aging. However, she never opted for plastic surgery. "I think right now I'm not going to do it because it really is more to make women feel bad about themselves," she explained.
The daughter of actress Ingrid Bergman and the award-winning Italian director Roberto Rosellini revealed she had seen many women feel sad about aging based on how people's attitudes towards them changed.
The actress understands their feelings and studied why they felt that way. As a result, she merely finds "joy" in growing old as she embraces her wrinkles and sagging skin.
Where Does Isabella Rossellini Live?
Once the highest-paid model in the world, Rossellini now lives in a barn in Bellport, Long Island. Before she bought the property, which was built in 1850, the previous owners used it to keep animals and host parties.
After buying the barn, the actress talked to her architect friend, Pietro Cicognani, who helped her renovate the place into a beautiful home. She recalled:
"We maintained the roughly hewn look, but made it a functioning house."
The wooden walls and wooden floors give Isabella's home a unique touch. She often shares photos of her "rustic country house" on social media, giving her followers ideas on how to decorate their houses.
The barn has big windows that keep all rooms illuminated during the day, while its walls are decorated with paintings. In an interview, the actress revealed she likes to keep her house empty, but people keep gifting her furniture to fill up the space.
In 2013, Rossellini founded the Mama Farm in Brookhaven, Long Island, which is now home to many animals including multiple breeds of chickens, turkeys, ducks, quails, sheep, and goats.
In an interview, Rossellini shared a hilarious incident where her goats entered her house and were roaming freely in every room. "One day they, you know, entered my bedrooms, walking everywhere," she recalled as the hosts laughed while watching a video of the sheep walking inside her intricately-designed house.
Besides keeping animals on the farm, the actress also keeps bees that give her fresh honey. She also grows crops on the land without using chemicals. The farm's website claims that its produce is completely organic.
What Family Does the Actress Have?
Rossellini gave birth to her daughter, Elettra Wiedemann, while she was married to her ex-husband Jonathan Wiedemann, and adopted her son, Roberto Rosellini a few years later in 1993.
Following in their mother's footsteps, Elettra and Roberto chose modeling as their career. The young and handsome Roberto has modeled for big names including Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana.
Meanwhile, Elettra worked for Lancôme like her mother and eventually started loving the farm life, living with her mother and partner, Caleb Lane. She gave birth to their first baby in 2018, making Rossellini a grandmother for the first time.
in 2021, Rossellini became a grandmother for the second time with the birth of Elettra's second child. She posted a photo with the newborn boy on Instagram with the caption, "We are all very HAPPY."
