Tom Cruise has been one of the action movie genre's favorite leading men for many years, with his roles in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise being one of the most famous he has starred in so far.

The actor began starring in the franchise in the 1990s and is still part of it to this day. The latest installment in the series has seen Cruise gather an entirely new generation of fans, but some have harshly criticized the actor recently.

Cruise and his co-stars have been promoting the seventh installment of the blockbuster franchise for months. He has appeared on several red-carpet engagements and interviews, but his squeaky-clean interview persona was lost last week.

The 60-year-old actor attended a premiere party for "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One" and only left the event hosted at the Chiltern Firehouse in London at three o'clock in the morning.

While Cruise and his friends enjoyed themselves celebrating, fans were unforgiving in their comments when they saw the photos of the actor leaving the event in the early hours of Friday morning.

Some Facebook photos showed Cruise leaving the party in his dashing suit but looking drowsy. Fans were quick to talk about his appearance and share their opinions on his outing.

One fan said Cruise looked "drunk" and then admitted they wished they looked as good as he did when they were under the influence. Another said he looked like himself but worn out after many years of partying.

Some thought he looked like anyone else did when they were inebriated and wondered why he would look any different to others. Another fan lamented:

Many agreed with this, saying he was aging like everybody else and that people should stop criticizing him for doing the same things that everybody else does, just in the spotlight.

What Did Cruise's Co-stars Say About His Behavior Behind the Scenes?

Although fans criticized Cruise for his demeanor leaving the party, his co-stars have talked about what it's like to work with him and revealed that he is one of the best people on the set.

Simon Pegg, who first worked with Cruise on "Mission: Impossible" in 2006, confirmed that Cruise is a highly caring person. He shared:

"He leads from the top down. And he's kind of inspiring to be around. There's no one else like him; he's the last movie star of the old kind."

Pegg's first time in Hollywood was also the first day he met Cruise, and he mentioned that the veteran actor had made him feel extremely welcome and didn't act like a famous movie star.

Hayley Atwell, one of the latest actresses to join the franchise, said Cruise's reputation preceded him. Atwell knew what a wonderful person Cruise was before she even met him.

Atwell said she had read about Cruise before and knew he was present with everyone he worked with. When she finally met him, Atwell confirmed that Cruise is professional, ensuring his co-stars and crew always feel safe.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Kirby admitted she was "equal parts inspired and terrified" to work with Cruise and referenced his stunts in the new "Mission: Impossible" movie as something that required a lot of trust. Kirby shared:

"I think it requires a real level of commitment and passion and turning up and care. It's just a beautiful way of working."

Pom Klementieff, who also stars in the latest "Mission Impossible" installment, said that the entire cast and crew trusted Cruise and their director, Christopher McQuarrie. Although Klementieff admitted that McQuarrie and Cruise had set the bar so high that everyone else had to step up their game too.

What Relationship Does Cruise Have with His Three Kids?

While Cruise seems to have excellent relationships with those he works with, the same cannot be said for his own family. Cruise does not share a good relationship with his youngest daughter, whom he shares with Katie Holmes. However, he is closer with his two older children with Nicole Kidman.

Kidman and Cruise were married briefly in the 1990s, and they adopted two children during their marriage. The first was daughter Isabella in 1992, and three years later, in 1995, they adopted their son Connor.

Isabella and Connor were both brought up in the church of Scientology, which is their father's religion. Kidman is not part of the church, so she does not have as close a relationship with Isabella and Connor as Cruise does. The actress once shared:

"They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists, and as a mother, it's my job to love them."

Kidman also said she would give her life up for her children, regardless of their choices.

Meanwhile, Isabella and Connor share a good relationship with their father. In 2019, Isabella publicly thanked Cruise for everything he had done for her and her brother.

Contrary to his relationship with his children with Kidman, Cruise is not at all close with his youngest daughter, Suri. In fact, they have not had a relationship since his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, divorced him. It was reported that Holmes refused to raise her daughter under the Church of Scientology.

As a result, Suri is not part of the church and has not seen her father in at least a decade. She is now applying to colleges with only her mother's help, as her father does not have a say in where she goes to school.

Although he does not have a relationship with Suri, Cruise has never lapsed on the child support payments he makes out to Holmes and his daughter, which will end when Suri turns eighteen.
