The actress, who was viewed as a plus-size role model for women in the 1980s, has been open about her weight loss journey.

Barr recently reminded the world about the time she was featured as a cover model for Vanity Fair as a plus-size woman.
Most magazines didn't feature plus-size women as cover models in the past, and Barr reminded fans that she was among the pioneers of plus-size women artists.
Barr shared a picture on Instagram of herself in lingerie on the cover of Vanity Fair and captioned it, "When is @lizzobeeating going to thank me for paving the way. An homage to Botero. Photo by Annie Leibovitz."

The actress mentioned Lizzo, a plus-size modern American rapper who proudly shows off her body in lingerie, too, while performing and on magazine covers.

Fans who saw Barr's picture on Instagram responded positively and applauded the actress for the positive influence she had on plus-size women: "You paved the way not only for big girls but for women in comedy, women in power, etc. ICON 🙌.”

Another fan added, "Paved way for poor kids to not feel bad that 50% of their meatloaf was ALSO cornflakes😉. ❤️.” One fan, who was conflicted about Barr's post, wrote:
"You definitely helped the bigger girls however there were many before and will be many after you. How about celebrating with lizzo rather than bashing. Women need to lift women up not down. Not hating freaking love you just wish you went about this differently."

However, some people thought it wasn't fair for Barr to compare herself to Lizzo. A person pointed out:
"Uh, Roseanne you had multiple plastic surgeries during your time on TV. Lizzo is about body positivity and loving the skin you're in- without surgery."
Another fan told Barr that Lizzo doesn't owe anyone anything. The fan pointed out that, unlike the actress, Lizzo hadn't publicly spoken about undergoing weight reduction and plastic surgery.
The actress said she gave in to her desire and had one surgery done where fat was removed from her stomach and placed in her butt.

Roseanne Barr Changed Her Appearance
Barr used to make fun of ladies who had undergone plastic surgery until she underwent one. She revealed that she now believes if one has something about their appearance that bothers them, they should change it if they can afford it.
The actress noted that she had undergone a number of plastic surgeries but had to space them out so that they didn't affect her body much.
Barr said she started with a facelift, which hurt so much that it felt like she had spent a night with an ax murderer. She added that no one should say a face-lift doesn't hurt because it does. According to Barr, it took her two weeks before she could function well.

After her face-lift, Barr didn't look at herself in the mirror for four days, and when she finally did, she saw the difference immediately. She no longer had her jowls and a double chin.
"The Nanny" actress also had work done on her breast. "They were like French bread," she said. After the surgery, her breast became rounder.
Barr also said when she discovered her nipples were pointing south she went to have them corrected as she wanted them to point north.
She revealed that her surgeon Leslie Stevens, who had done all the work, did the surgery at his clinic behind Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. After the surgery, Barr noted that she liked the outcome because her nipples now pointed in her desired direction:
"Everything is looking up! I went home a few hours later and had a nurse with me for 24 hours, watching for blood clots or bleeding."
Barr, who is a mother of five, said she wanted her breasts to stop hanging as they did after she breastfed her babies. The work she did on her breasts finally helped her to fit into gowns she wanted to wear.
The actress confessed that when she lost weight, it was because she underwent gastric bypass surgery. The surgery helped her lose 125 lbs. After losing weight, she had a big flap of skin, so she went for a tummy tuck.
The surgeons took so much of her skin off that they had to make her a new belly button. Barr's arms and hips underwent liposuction, and 8 lbs. of fat was removed. She confessed:
"I went from a size 22 to a size 4. I looked like a different person. I never regretted it, but it took me a long time to enjoy it and accept it was the way I looked."

Barr's desire to change her body didn't stop there. She agreed that plastic surgery was addictive because once one is happy with the first results, they go back, again and again, to get more work done on their bodies.
Roseanne Barr Desired a Kardashian-Style Butt
Barr went through plastic surgery to get a fat transfer. She wanted fat to be transferred from her stomach to her butt so that her behind could look like that of the Kardashians.
She confessed that she loved the Kardashians family because they are "unbelievable." The actress added that whenever she looked at the young women in magazines, as well as the Kardashians, she wondered if she could get a butt like theirs.

The actress said she gave in to her desire and had one surgery done where fat was removed from her stomach and placed in her butt. Her motive for the surgery was to have some shape in her butt.
Barr, who said she was still open to plastic surgery, noted that she wanted to get work done so that she could have a waist.
In 2019, the 70-year-old actress said she was ready to change her appearance some more and noted that she would be going back to the doctor to get consultations on future procedures.
