Is Lauv Gay? He's Seemingly Bisexual after His Trending TikTok on Dating a Girl & Being 'A Lil Bit into Men'
Fans of up-and-coming pop musician Lauv often wondered whether he was gay or bisexual. The star has since seemingly revealed his sexual orientation online.
Singer-songwriter Lauv recently pondered over his sexuality on social media. In the past, he has also spoken about the LGBTQ community and shared that he is an ally. The "I Like Me Better" hitmaker from San Francisco also has a friend who is openly gay.
Lauv, whose real name is Ari Staprans Leff, has also talked about his love life. He previously shared he had a girlfriend in 2018. However, two years later, in 2020, he said he did not want to date anymore though there have been speculations about who the "Steal the Show" singer's girlfriend is.
Lauv Seemingly Comes Out as Bisexual on TikTok
Lauv recently uploaded a video on his TikTok account, which showed him moving his head and making funny faces while seated at the back of a moving vehicle. He seemingly came out as bisexual, writing on the clip:
"When you're dating a girl, but you're also a little bit into men."
"Does it have to be that big of a deal? i havent done much aside from kiss so tbh don’t wannna jump the gun but tbh i feel things and i dont wanna pretend i dont. :)" he captioned his post.
In March 2020, a Twitter user expressed her assumption about Hollywood's star sexuality, writing, "lowkey thought lauv was gay😳" Two years later, in July 2022, another social media user asked, "Is lauv gay? Or bi?" adding, "I know assuming someone else’s sexuality is bad but I’m just curious."
Lauv Is an LGBTQ Ally & Has an Openly Gay Famous Friend
Lauv is an ally of the LGBTQ community and once said in an interview that it is "incredibly important to him." He stated that he could not speak on queer issues based on his own experience but from what he has witnessed through his pals who are part of the community, adding:
"People should be able to love whoever they want to love and identify however they want to identify."
Lauv became one of the artists to join HRC's Equality Rocks campaign in September 2018 and said he wanted his voice to speak out on the conversation about love, fairness, and equality worldwide.
The 2018 Teen Choice Award nominee celebrated pride month recently on his Twitter account. He captioned his post, "Happy pride," alongside a blue heart emoji.
Lauv is also friends with Australian actor Troye Sivan, who was there for him during his mental health struggles. In an interview, he said Sivan would be there for him no matter what.
Like his pal, Sivan is also a singer, and before he became famous, he came out as gay to his family at 15. The pop star revealed his coming out story on his YouTube channel in 2013 and said he wanted to tell it in his narrative.
Lauv's Mixed Feelings about His Dating Life & Rumored Girlfriend
Meanwhile, Lauv has been very forthcoming about his dating life. The "All 4 Nothing" singer gushed about his romantic partner in an October 23, 2018 tweet, writing:
"I have the best girlfriend in the world, okay, thats all i gotta say, you can get back to your night xoxo, cool."
This post came amid news linking him to fellow singer-songwriter Julia Michaels. During that time, she also raved about him in the comments section on Instagram, saying she loved "everything about" him.
They had starred in the music video for their duet, "There's No Way," wherein their chemistry was apparent. But they denied they were dating in September 2018. On July 23, 2020, Lauv wrote two years after gushing about his girlfriend, "I'm never dating again."
