Is Jack Whitehall gay? It is a fair question considering the British comedian is the face of Disney's first homosexual character in a major role in Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt-led "Jungle Cruise."

Jack Whitehall is not gay, which caused a minor backlash when news of his casting as the effete brother of Emily Blunt's character in the movie set in the twenties came out.

Upon the release of "Jungle Cruise," another posed the same question. They acknowledge that though the film was "not top tier representation," Whitehall's character's sexuality is "never the butt of the joke."

"Wait is Jack Whitehall gay?" a fan asked with a crying face emoji in 2022; when informed that he has a girlfriend, the fan dryly replied, "Tiktok is a liar."

Why Some Took Offense to Jack Whitehall Raking a Queer Role

At the June 2021 "Jungle Cruise" premier, Whitehall revealed to Variety that he had not known the part's sexual orientation when he saw the initial script.

He was spotted hanging out with Dua Lipa.

Emily Blunt's onscreen brother was happy about the way they approached the gay character. Even though it is not explicitly stated that he is gay, a significant scene makes it clear.

After the film came out in mid-2021, popular OnlyFans creator Adam Ellis praised the British comedian's comic timing but thought the character "felt a little gross" played by Whitehall when there are "so many funny gay actors."

This had been the sentiment with the straight actor's casting in 2018. Actor Louis Gaudencio pointed out that a straight actor in a gay role was not the issue. He elaborated:

"It's the fact that this is the FIRST openly gay Disney lead. And to not allow an openly gay actor to pave the way is just a shame."
