Is Sebastian Croft Gay? The Actor Actively Supports the Queer Community
Sebastian Croft's portrayal of a gay character in "Heartstoppers" has left fans wondering if the actor is gay offscreen as well. While he is yet to set the record straight about his sexuality, he has made his support for the LGBTQ community very clear.
Sebastian Croft has become a fan-favorite following his role in "Heartstoppers." The actor revealed that his role in the series was not just a job but more of a project that touched his soul.
However, his commitment to representing queer stories has gone beyond the small screen, as Sebastian Croft regularly shows his support for gay Pride on his social media, which has led to questions about his sexuality.
Sebastian Croft Is a Very Proud LGBTQ Supporter
On July 2, 2022, a few days before he was spotted leaving a VIP party in London with Olivia Rodrigo, Croft shared a clip of Pride supporters celebrating in the streets while dancing to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)."
"Love always wins #Pride," Croft captioned the post. In August 2022, the actor thanked fans for their support and for buying t-shirts that read, "Queer was always here." The actor added that they raised 150,000 dollars to help queer refugees, especially those escaping crises.
More recently, he took to Instagram to celebrate Pride month coming to an end and posted a photo dump of his outfit for a parade. "Happy pride u beautiful people 🏳️🌈💖🏳️⚧️💖🏳️🌈💖🏳️⚧️💖🏳️🌈💖🏳️⚧️ (sic)," the caption read.
Sebastian Croft Faced Backlash for Working with J. K. Rowling
Croft made a name for himself as an actor following his role as Ben Hope in Neftlix's queer teen series, "Heartstopper." While speaking about the show, he said, "It's not depressing, (and) it's not sad. It's just uplifting, warm, and lovely."
However, earlier this year, the actor faced backlash from social media users after the news broke that he would be voicing a playable character on the "Harry Potter"-inspired game, "Hogwarts Legacy."

Members of the LGBTQ community were upset about the news as Croft would be working with "Harry Potter" creator J. K. Rowling, who made remarks deemed transphobic. Following fans' outcry, the actor turned to Twitter and shared:
"I was cast in this project over 3 years ago, back when all Harry Potter was to me was the magical world I grew up with. This was long before I was aware of JK Rowling's views. I believe wholeheartedly that trans women are women and trans men are men."

Sebastian Croft Grew up Feeling like an Outcast
During an interview, Croft recalled feeling very insecure in high school. "I was always an outcast," he shared. The actor revealed that his memories of his teenage years were not fond, and he turned to fashion due to feeling different.
Since his "fashion awakening" at 14, the actor would turn to clothes to escape the bullying he endured and enjoyed putting together the boldest and "eccentric" looks he could find. "[...] Clothes are important to express yourself, and I think anyone can wear anything as long as they feel comfortable," he said.
