During an interview, Olivia Rodrigo revealed that everything happens for a reason. She remarked that not having siblings gave her time and space to pour herself into her musical career at such a young age. Despite being grateful for that opportunity, she had sometimes wondered what life would have been like if she had a brother or a sister.

However, even though she learned to be comfortable with being alone and with the thoughts in her head, the "Traitor" singer has also had her parents—with whom she is very close—and all her A-list friends to keep her grounded.

By the time she was in middle school, she was being homeschooled, which added to her "unique" upbringing. It also allowed her to grow close to her parents, who the Grammy-award-winning musician calls her "BFFs."

However, while she shared a close bond with her parents, the singer also learned to find comfort in being alone. She said:

"From a very young age, since I was an only child, I was very really comfortable with being alone, being with the thoughts in my head. I just remember being 12 years old and being alone in my room and just writing songs and pouring my heart out."

Despite being comfortable with being alone and having supportive parents, Rodrigo turned to social media to humorously express how it also felt to be an only child sometimes. "When it's #NationalSiblingsDay and #nationalpetday in the same week, but you don't have either," she tweeted with a funny meme in 2017.
