Meghan Trainor Gives Birth to 'Big Boy' Whose Name Raises Fans' Eyebrows
Meghan Trainor's son's last name has sparked debate in the comments of his social media birth announcement. A fan expressed concern over the state of the star's marriage as the baby bore her name.
Meghan Trainor's new baby was born over the 4th of July weekend, on the seventh anniversary of her first date with Daryl Sabara, July 1, 2023. Barry Bruce Trainor "was a big boy at 8lbs 7oz."
"Curious why he got your last name & not his dad's? Is something going on between y'all?" a fan asked, adding, "I'm mainly asking because Riley has his dad's last name, and now Barry has yours. Why do the kids have different last names."
"No disrespect. Why does the baby have your last name?" one enquired, to which another replied, "Why not? She gave birth to him! Why should he not have her name?"
"Each kid has the last name of one of their parents," an Instagram user explained in the comments. "Cool idea. Always thought I'd hyphenate my kids' names, but this is a way better idea."
Meghan and her husband, Daryl Sabara, had the name picked out when she was ten weeks pregnant. "We're very fast. We're like, 'This is what it will be,' and then we start introducing my stomach as the name," she told TODAY.

The best advice that Meghan Trainor has ever received about being a mother is when her pediatrician assured her that "all Riley's weird things are normal."
Motherhood has changed the way she approaches songwriting. She is no longer focused on writing lyrics that will make others feel better; instead, she writes how she feels in the moment.
