Olivia Klopchin, a 19-year-old from Springfield, Vermont, was born with a rare medical condition that showed up as an innocent symptom when she was an infant.

The conditions caused one of her arms to swell up to an abnormally large size. Olivia's family first detected a strange mark on her arm when she was two months old. The strange mark later developed into what has become a defining part of her appearance.

The TikTok star shared a video explaining to her followers her rare medical condition. She said doctors diagnosed the strange mark on her arm as the beginning of a condition called vascular malformation.

A vascular malformation is an abnormal growth of blood vessels that leads to discoloration or protrusion in the affected region.

Doctors were alerted to Olivia's condition when her family reported a small bruise on her arm, which would later cause the TikTok star's arms to enlarge abnormally.

Olivia's mother, Becky, said when her daughter was first diagnosed, it frightened all the family members. "We had this little tiny child and had no idea really what was wrong with her," the mom recalled.

Becky is proud of how her teenage daughter blossomed into an amazing young woman, despite the adverse reactions she received due to her condition.

Olivia started posting videos of herself online to raise awareness about her condition. She noted that putting herself out there and meeting all these new people meant she wasn't alone anymore:

"It is important for me because I felt lost when I was younger because the only people I had ever seen with anything similar were in a hospital."

Online users who saw Olivia's posts were stunned that a little bruise on her arm could lead to abnormal and serious swelling. The TikTok star also admitted to receiving lots of interesting reactions to her arm, saying, "Some of the worst things people have said, it's mostly been online."

"It was the hulky, you look like the hulky and I back then was very hurt by it because I had never been called anything like that, I'd never compared myself to anything like that."

On TikTok, some people have asked Olivia why she hasn't had her arm amputated. Olivia said these people try to tear her down and destroy her self-esteem.

The teenager doesn't concentrate on these haters as she believes the internet will always have negative people, whom she can't escape whether she wants to or not.

In one video, Olivia opens up about the small bruise that led to her abnormal arm. She dramatically revealed how one can joke about a small bruise, but everything becomes serious when the bruise becomes a swollen arm.

People mocked her after this reveal, with some asking her if her swollen arm came with Hulk powers. But Olivia doesn't allow haters to dampen her mood; instead, she educates them about her condition.

Olivia has learned to embrace her haters and their mocking over the years, responding to them with information about her condition. Her mother noted, "She always stood up for herself; it's her normal even though it's not everybody else's normal."

Olivia revealed that the pain she feels is the worst part of her condition. Her arm has painful clots due to her vascular malformation. These blood clots are formed because her veins do not have a muscular wall around them. The absence of this wall causes her veins to expand, preventing blood from flowing easily, and leading to clots that Olivia described as "very very painful."

Olivia said she is lucky because she doesn't get the blood clots as regularly as other people she knows that have vascular malformation. It only happens maybe thrice a year, while others get a couple monthly.

The TikTok star plays sports and hangs out with friends while enduring the pain in her arm. When her friends have questions about her arm, she would always answer them.

Olivia chooses not to consider the pain in her arm a downside to her life; instead, she is thankful that her swollen and abnormal limb hasn't greatly impacted her life in a negative way.
