Lauren Lapkus' Husband: All We Know about Mike Castle and the Actress' Previous Marriage

Television star Lauren Lapkus has been married twice and is a mother of one. Her first marriage ended in divorce, and she was ready to pay to quickly finalize the divorce so she could move on with her life.

Lauren Lapkus is an American actress born on September 6, 1985, to a Lithuanian father and a half-Greek and half-Serbian mother. The Chicago, Illinois native graduated from DePaul University in 2008 with a degree in English.

However, she has since pursued a career in show business. In addition to acting, she is also a writer, an impressionist, a comedian, a podcaster, and has worked in the music department in Hollywood.

Lapkus is best known for her role as Susan Fischer in the Netflix series, "Orange Is the New Black" and "Hot in Cleveland" alongside Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Georgia Engel, and Dave Foley.

She has also been married to men in the entertainment industry. Although she married Mike Castle, her first husband was Chris Alvarado, and their union was short-lived.

Lapkus' first marriage was to actor Chris Alvarado whom she wed on May 3, 2014, at Salvatore's Ristorante in Lincoln Park. The pair did not have children together.

Alvarado appeared in movies such as "Single Siblings" (2013) and "Spare Change" (2015) alongside Curt Mega, Lissa Lauria, JQ Cole, Elyse Levesque, Krista Allen, and Anthony Fanelli. After two years of marriage, they decided to part ways.

She announced the news on Instagram on Valentine's Day in 2016. The actress revealed it was a good time to announce the separation. Even though it was tough, they remained friends and wished each other the best.

In the divorce filing, Lapkus stated she would write a big check to smooth things over for her soon-to-be ex-husband totaling $85,000 to settle their community property split. She also said there was no need for the court to award spousal support for either of them.

Lauren Lapkus Met Her Second Husband Mike Castle

Following her divorce from Alvarado, Lapkus met her future second husband, Mike Castle. Castle is an actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for playing Adam Rodman in the comedy series, "Brews Brothers" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm alongside Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Jimmy Kimmel, Meg Ryan, and Mary Steenburgen.

Castle moved to Los Angeles for greener pastures, and while landing roles here and there, he crossed paths with Lapkus. The couple have since worked together and co-wrote "Food Place" in 2019.

Castle, whose career began in the early 2010s, revealed he and Lapkus are from the same state, and he spoke about the experience of meeting her in an April 2020 interview:

"We could have met so many times. Where I went to Piven Theater, that's blocks away from where Lauren grew up. It was very strange when Lauren and I eventually started dating, then I was like, 'I know this whole neighborhood so well and I've never met you.'"

Castle described his wife as a fun and cool person to be around, adding that after listening to her podcast "With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus," he loved how hilarious she is.

Lauren Lapkus & Mike Castle Wed at the Courthouse

Castle and Lapkus exchanged wedding vows at the courthouse on October 5, 2018. The couple later celebrated their nuptials over a small dinner party with friends and family. The bride gushed about their special day in an interview:

"We are so happy! The whole day was exactly what we wanted it to be: stress-free, romantic, and fun. […] I am thrilled to be married to my best friend!"

When the lovebirds marked their fourth wedding anniversary, Lapkus posted throwback photos from their big day on Instagram and captioned the post:

"Very grateful to get to celebrate four extra special years being married to @biketassel."

Castle also often posts pictures of the duo on his social media. In August 2021, he shared a snap of the two posing outdoors with other people in the background and wrote, "When we were young."

In December of that year, Castle posted a black and white snapshot of them, showing his wife making a funny face. He penned that it was taken on their first Christmas together.

The following year in January 2022, the comedian posted a selfie of the duo smiling while wearing shades. Castle shared a cozy photo of him and his spouse the following month, writing, "My absolute love @laurenlapkus."

The husband-and-wife duo's most recent picture was posted in April 2023, and Castle captioned the Instagram post, "I like this pic of us @laurenlapkus."

Mike Castle & Lauren Lapkus Share One Child

Castle and his wife are parents of one. She announced they were expecting in a May 2021 Instagram post, alongside a photo of the couple gazing into each other's eyes while the mom-to-be cradled her visible baby bump:

"We are expecting a baby girl this summer. I am over the moon. So grateful and happy."

The elated parent-to-be captioned her post with the hashtag "Rainbow Baby," a term typically used to describe a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or infant loss.

Lapkus and Castle welcomed their daughter in July 2021. The new mom posted a video of her newborn and wrote, "Holly," alongside two cloud emojis. Holly's dad also uploaded the same clip on his Instagram account welcoming their daughter.

Over the years, the Netflix stars have shared memorable photos of themselves and their first child on social media. When Castle celebrated his 33rd birthday in February 2022, he posted a snap of him and his wife and daughter and wrote, "Absolutely the best birthday of my life."

Two months later, the mother of his child shared a selfie of her and their bundle of joy, captioning it, "Visiting home," alongside a yellow heart emoji.

Lapkus celebrated Father's Day by sharing a picture of Castle and their child, writing, "[…] I feel very lucky to be able to share the experience of parenthood with someone so thoughtful and present."

In February 2023, the mother of one gushed over her husband and child on Instagram. "Love my Valentines," she captioned her post. Lapkus took her young daughter to the zoo along with Holly's grandparents in April 2023.

The "Jurassic World" star honored her beloved husband again on Father's Day in June 2023, writing, "It’s so fun to parent with you. Happy Father’s Day, Mike!"
