'Life Is Good': Valerie Bertinelli Celebrates 63rd Birthday after Surviving 'Hardest 6 Years' of Her Life
Valerie Bertinelli is "over the moon grateful" for her 63rd birthday this year. She uploaded a clip of her luggage at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol over the weekend, overlaid with "Happy Birthday to me" graphics.
"I have survived the hardest six years of my life," Valerie Bertinelli wrote, adding that Amsterdam is one of her favorite cities as it holds "sweet special memories."
The TV personality has experienced many professional and personal highs and lows in the past few years., but "life is good" for the proud mom this week. Today she cheers on her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, opening for Metallica.
Though divorced from her son's father, Eddie Van Halen, she wrote a beautiful tribute alongside a vintage photo of them with their baby son a day after the rockstar died of lung cancer in October 2020: "I'm so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments."
Bertinelli admitted on "TODAY with Hoda & Jenna" in February 2021 that she was mourning for the "father of the greatest gift" in her life and was experiencing "grief shame."
However, breaking ties with another spouse left the actress in a different state of mind. "11.22.22 second best day of my life," she tweeted in November last year, along with a video she recorded at the airport en route to see her son.
Bertinelli joyously stated that her lawyer had just called to confirm that all the papers were signed and that she was officially, and "happily," divorced from Tom Vitale. The host filed for a legal separation in November 2021, per TODAY.

Despite having signed a waiver in the prenuptial agreement stating otherwise, Vitale requested monthly spousal support of $50,000, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The Food Network host settled to pay a lump sum of $2.2 million to her ex.
At the beginning of April, she took to social media to share good and bad news with her followers. The good is that there is a new season of "Valerie's Home Cooking," and the bad is that it will be their last season.

Less than a week later, on April 15, she shared a video of her sitting in front of her computer in a white bathrobe moments before sending off the manuscript of her third cookbook to her editor.
"A sigh of relief and a little bit of terror," Valerie Bertinelli wrote of her mixed emotions. The book, "Enough Already, " will be available next year.
