Inside Gavin Rossdale’s Gay Relationship with Singer Marilyn Which He Initially Denied
Gavin Rossdale's gay relationship with Marilyn left the cross-dresser heartbroken and devastated after their breakup. Several years later, Marilyn bravely disclosed that he hadn't shared a kiss with anyone for two decades after their split.
Singer Marilyn Manson revealed that the end of his 'five-year' love affair with rocker Gavin Rossdale had such a profound impact on him that he couldn't bring himself to kiss anyone else for twenty years.
Manson, born Brian Hugh Warner, claimed to have been in a relationship with Rossdale for five years before Gavin met Gwen Stefani. Speaking to Mirror, the singer confessed that Rossdale was the love of his life.
He also reflected on their first meeting, revealing to the publication that Rossdale was his fan and would follow him to clubs where he performed. Despite Manson's attempts to push him away, Gavin remained devoted to him. He said:
"He told me he loved me, which I said was ridiculous because he didn't know me. But after about an hour-and-a-half, we were both crying and ended up in each other's arms."
For years, Rossdale denied having a gay relationship with the cross-dressing pop star in the 80s. However, during a 2010 interview with Details Magazine, he clarified why he initially refuted ex-lover Manson's claims.
Rossdale explained that he was grappling with fears because they had just started the band Bush, with him as the lead singer; he was concerned that acknowledging his relationship with Marilyn Manson could have potentially harmed his reputation and the band's image. Additionally, the musician admitted that they had a one-time encounter when he was 17. He stated:
"When you're 17, Jesus Christ, I don't think there's anything strange about any form of anything - you're learning about life. It's a part of growing up - that's it, no more, no less."
When Rossdale and Stefani announced their divorce in 2015, Manson felt that some people wanted to blame him for their breakup. The London-based singer shared that he wasn't surprised by the divorce and emphasized that he has always cared for Rossdale and wanted him and Stefani, along with their children, to find happiness.

Even after the split, Manson disclosed that he remained in contact with Rossdale, discussing various topics but not precisely the divorce.
Rossdale and Stefani first crossed paths in 1995 when Stefani was doing a 27-month tour of her band, No Doubt. It was during that time that Gwen opened for Gavin's band, Bush, in London. Their encounter led them to embark on a long-distance relationship.
After six years of dating, Rossdale proposed to Stefani in January 2002. Nine months after getting engaged, the two exchanged vows at a churchyard in London in September. The exes called it quits in 2015 after being married for over a decade. They share three children, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
In 2017, multifaceted artist Boy George took a swipe at Rossdale when he was cast as a new judge on "The Voice UK," referring to Stefani and Manson. Also, in George's book, "Take It Like a Man," the singer explored Gavin and Marilyn's relationship and shared his positive perspective.
He emphasized that people can genuinely fall in love with diverse individuals, encouraging an open and accepting approach to love and relationships. He then stated that Rossdale should feel content with the portrayal of their relationship in the book.
In 2020, Rossdale once spoke about his love life, admitting that he struggled with dating and confessed that he frequently found himself getting "screwed up and screwed over" in relationships. He prioritized being a single dad during that time. In a recent interview, Rossdale shared that he is single, shedding light on his current relationship status.
