Since starting her career as a competitive swimmer at six, Katie Ledecky has made a name for herself as a swimming champion, Olympics gold medalist, and record-breaker, joining the likes of Michael Phelps.
However, Katie Ledecky's life away from the swimming pool — including her dating life and whether or not she has a husband or a boyfriend — has remained a mystery. Instead, the swimmer has opened up about the grueling training regime that landed her the number one spot and the family that has had her back every step of the way.

Katie Ledecky Is Very Close with Her Family
In April 2021, Katie revealed that she had not seen her family due to the coronavirus pandemic and training at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee Media Summit ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Games. She shared:
"I haven't seen my family in over a year now, not one family member. [...] I want to make this time that I've spent just doing my craft and training really, really hard and all that. I want to make sure that it's worth it. I really want to make them proud of me and everyone in the States when I compete."
The swimmer was born to David Ledecky and Mary Gen. While her father used his degrees from Harvard and Yale to become a lawyer, Katie proved she inherited her love of the water from her mother, who qualified for nationals three times. However, while Mary Gen had an impressive work ethic, her swim coach Rick Klatt said, "Katie's at a different level [...]."
