A woman secretly ordered a DNA test kit to use for her little grandson, hoping the results would prove her daughter-in-law had cheated. Little did she know that her younger son would walk in on her before she could take the child's DNA sample.

A man opened up about his family dynamics in a Reddit post, sharing that his parents never liked his brother's wife because of her past. According to them, the girl fled from her house as a teenager and was addicted to drugs before she went to rehab.

Because of their doubts regarding her character, they suspected she had cheated on her husband when she got pregnant with her first baby. They thought the baby was not their son's, but they didn't do anything at the time to clear their suspicions.

At that point, their older son threatened to cut ties with them if they spoke badly about her. Fearing losing their son, they pretended to like the girl while bad-mouthing her secretly.

What Did the Grandparents Do to Clear Their Doubts?

While the man thought his parents had accepted his wife, his younger brother saw something that left him with many questions. One day, he came home from school and saw his mother doing something unusual to his one-year-old nephew.

He saw her swabbing the inside of the baby's cheek before keeping the DNA sample in a clear bag. "I asked her what the hell she was doing, and she told me to mind my business," the young man recalled.

Upon seeing the DNA test kit, the man realized what his mother was doing. When he asked her why she was doing the test, she told him it was because she wanted to ensure the boy was her grandson.

The older woman thought she would do the test secretly, but her younger son had walked in on her, so she told him not to tell anyone. She threatened the then-17-year-old by saying she wouldn't pay for his college or car if he told his brother about the DNA test.

Scared of his mother's threat, the boy didn't tell his brother about the DNA test until years later, when the couple eventually parted ways. His brother learned his wife was cheating on him, but he still had no idea about the DNA test results then.

The results came a few weeks after the baby's grandmother tested him, proving that the boy was her grandchild. After her older son learned about his wife's infidelity, she decided to tell him about the test.

"My brother got extremely upset at my mom and started asking me and my dad if we knew," the Redditor recalled, sharing that his father had no idea about the test. However, when he told his brother he knew about it but couldn't tell him anything because of their mother's threats, his brother stopped speaking to him.

A few days later, the older brother visited his younger brother, asking him to apologize. Since the younger brother believed he was not at fault, he refused to apologize, adding to his brother's anger. He posted his story on Reddit to ask other people if he was at fault for not apologizing.

Some people believed the Redditor should have apologized to his brother, while others thought he was not at fault. One person explained why the man was not at fault: "You were only 17, still a kid. Your mom threatened you. She threatened your entire future by saying she wouldn't pay for your college!"

Meanwhile, another Reddit user said, "True. NTA. But tbh OP, is this worth not apologizing now? If it is worth not doing and risking the relationship, that's totally your right, but I think this is one instance where I'd apologize for the circumstances and that you kept it secret to avoid punishment."
