A year ago, Olivia Newton-John passed away, leaving her fans heartbroken. However, she also left her dear husband devastated when she left this world; he still misses her.
Newton-John and her husband shared a beautiful, enduring love story that inspired many. Five months ago, her family finally spoke out about how they felt after losing the iconic actress and singer.
Last year, Newton-John died at 73, with her husband confirming her death. He said her passing occurred at her ranch in California and that she spent her final moments surrounded by her loved ones.
He then asked that the fans grant the family privacy. Five months ago, Newton-John's husband shared his thoughts on his late wife, saying:
"She had the willpower even in her most difficult times to really bring in the light and to bring in the love."
Newton-John's Husband Still Feels Her Presence
Newton-John's husband, John Easterling, admitted that the past year has been challenging for him but said his late wife inspired him to find the beauty in everything as she found love everywhere.
After Newton-John passed away, Easterling traveled to Peru in June to scatter her ashes in the exact spot where they exchanged vows 15 years ago. He also said the trip gave him perspective. He shared:
"It lightened my heart and created a very strong focus forward. I had 15 years with this extraordinary human being. That experience itself is worth a lifetime."
Easterling keeps a table filled with his wife's photos and mementos at their Santa Ynez, California home. He says: "There's no replacing her," and consistently feels his wife's presence around him.
When he went to Peru, Easterling took a photo, and when he looked back at the picture, he saw a blue orb right between his eyes. He called the past year a "supernatural" experience.
He gushed that he missed her every day but was grateful that he had fifteen wonderful years with his "extraordinary" wife. Newton-John said he felt her the most late at night and early in the morning.
He also said that he felt her at other random times throughout the day, be it walking around the house or throwing the ball for the dog. He often felt her around him and even talked out loud to her.
Easterling also shared his advice from a friend, who told him that when someone found their true soulmate, and they passed away, the other person had an obligation to live their life for the both of them, which Easterling plans to do.
What Promise Did They Make To Each Other?
During the sitdown with Today, Easterling disclosed that he and Newton-John made a promise to one another before her death. He revealed:
"The commitment Olivia and I had was that we would love each other forever or until the end of time, whichever came last."
Although it had been a year since she passed, Newton-John's family and friends still miss her dearly, as do her loyal fans.
