Inside Kim Cattrall’s Very Private Home Surrounded by Nature Where She Lives with Partner Out of View
- Kim Cattrall moved around a bit in her younger years before landing her first acting role in 1975.
- After appearing in the "Sex and the City" series and two of its movies, she quit the franchise before reprising her role in the reboot despite having a feud with a co-star.
- The actress now lives a quiet life in her Canadian home with her private boyfriend.
On August 21, 1956, Gladys Shane (Baugh) and Dennis Cattrall welcomed their daughter Kim Victoria Cattrall in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, England. When she was three months old, they immigrated to Canada before returning to her native country when she was 11.
The future star later studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) before returning to Vancouver at age 16. Cattrall graduated high school before getting a scholarship to study at New York City's American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA).
Her debut acting role came in her final year at AADA when she was cast in 1975's "Rosebud." The actress did some theater work after her breakout role and continued working, getting parts in 1984's "Police Academy," 1986's "Big Trouble in Little China," and 1987's "Mannequin."

In 1991, she appeared in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," but her most known role is as Samantha Jones in 1998's "Sex and the City (SATC)." Cattrall starred in the sitcom's feature films and won five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations for her work.

In 2002, Cattrall won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. After concluding years ago, "SATC" was rebooted as the series "And Just Like That..." in 2021 without the actress, but she finally got to reprise her role in its second season.

While on "SATC," Cattrall's character and Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw are best friends, the pair are far from it in real life. In October 2017, Cattrall shed light on her relationship with Parker, confessing during a Piers Morgan interview that they had a "toxic relationship."

The actress also noted how they'd "never been friends" and were colleagues. The star said choosing not to return to the franchise wasn't because she had "diva demands" but because she was empowered to end that chapter to start another one.

In February 2018, Parker appeared in "Watch What Happens Live," where she admitted to being "heartbroken" and "upset" upon hearing Cattrall describe them as colleagues. The celebrity said it wasn't how she recalled their "experience."

That same month, Cattrall posted on social media about how she felt when Parker gave her condolences after her brother's death. The actress told her former co-star that she didn't need her support and insisted she wasn't a friend or family, adding:
"So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

However, Parker insisted that they'd never fought but contended that Kim was allowed to say what she needed in the Morgan interview. In January 2021, Parker revealed the "SATC" reboot, leading a fan to note how happy they were to see her back but missed Cattrall.
The celebrity replied that they "will too" and "loved her so," without mentioning her former colleague's name. In February 2022, the "AJLT" star explained how Cattrall wasn't asked to reprise her role because "she's said what she had said."

Parker claimed the studio couldn't meet Cattrall's needs as they didn't link with theirs, but she also wouldn't be okay with her returning as Jones because of their "public history of feelings" that she'd shared.
In May 2023, fans were surprised when it was revealed that Cattrall would be reprising her role on "AJLT," with the celebrity telling "The View:"
"It's very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, 'What can we do?'"
However, sources claimed the actress only filmed one scene and didn't speak or interact with her co-stars. In the season two finale, Jones calls Bradshaw from London, and they have a brief conversation.
When asked whether she'd return for season three, Cattrall said, "This is as far as I'm going to go." The star only spoke 20 lines for her 71-second cameo and reportedly earned a whopping $1 million for that scene!

When Cattrall isn't acting and making crazy amounts of money, she can enjoy the privacy at home with her partner.
A Glimpse into Kim Cattrall's Canadian Home
Cattrall lived for 20 years on the Hamptons shore before moving to her Vancouver Island home. However, the actress still owns a Park Avenue apartment and prefers living privately, although she did show off her Canadian home, where she lives with her rarely-seen partner, Russell Thomas.
The house is 40 minutes from where she grew up. The celebrity once confessed that her home is "restorative," "simple to maintain," and is a place where she finds privacy, relaxation, and decompression, adding:
"My home has been my sanctuary."

The couple has lived a nice life that Cattrall is grateful for, including moving between Canada, New York, and London.

During a 2016 House & Home interview, Cattrall revealed that she bought the house in 2014 after seeing its breathtaking waterfront view. The star, who sat in front of a fireplace, explained that she didn't work there but spent her time relaxing and going for walks along the beach.

The actress explained how she used art from the First Nations to express herself in the house. Renovating the house happened gradually, painting the outside before tackling the inside with neutral colors.

A Moosehead called Cornelius stood guard on one wall after being bought from a store in Toronto. Cattrall said her favorite thing about the house is the view; she gets plenty of it from sitting in two chairs in a nook called the Eagle's Nest. The celebrity marveled at seeing the view changing every ten minutes, with birds and otters appearing.

In 2016, Cattrall wrote an essay that BBC Radio 4's "Woman's Hour" recorded, and she thought the audio engineer, Thomas, was "just lovely."
