‘Oh, No’: Simon Cowell Reacts after Son, Who Won’t Get a Penny from Rich Dad, Said He’ll Be a Singer
- Simon Cowell didn't think he'd ever become a father until his son was born, and he bonded with him immediately.
- Now, the little boy wants to audition for his famous father.
The book, "Simon Cowell - The Man Who Changed the World," revealed how entertainment mogul Simon Cowell repeatedly told his former partner, Terri Seymour, that he was too old to become a father. He told the entertainment reporter he was content and happy as he was.
However, his stance wasn't due to him not liking children; in his 2012 AOL Music interview, he confessed that he likes them a lot. The "America's Got Talent" judge shared that he liked children because he can talk and listen to them.

In his interview, Cowell explained that he didn't have children because one has to "devote" themselves to bringing them up, and he's always "dedicated all my life to work."

After years of being together, Seymour eventually suggested that maybe his future lay with someone else. The pair split in 2008. At that point, Cowell figured he'd already missed the opportunity to be a father.
However, fate had other plans for him because in February 2014, he welcomed his first child, a baby boy, and the following month, he sat down for an interview with Seymour about fatherhood.

The "American Idol" judge admitted that the first time he held his son, Eric, he was emotional and cried. The star got to hold his son within the first five minutes of his birth and confessed that he'd worried about liking his dogs more than the child as he'd never had one before.

His fiancée, Lauren Silverman, comforted him by telling him he'd be fine, and within seconds of Eric's birth, the television personality "got it."
In a 2013 Esquire UK interview, the star revealed he would leave his wealth to someone, maybe a charity, because he didn't believe in "passing it from one generation to another." Cowell said he didn't take his riches for granted as he'd lost everything when younger and knew what it was like to have something and then lose it.

In August 2023, Cowell, 63, revealed that he'd like Eric, 9, to take his place on "America's Got Talent" as the head judge. However, the little boy has other plans as he wishes to become a singer instead of judging others' talents.

The star said his son is already learning what it entails to find entertainers with potential. Eric sat and watched the shows with his father, and before someone was voted out, Cowell looked at the boy's reaction to see what he thought without asking him because he believed "kids don't lie."
Silverman's fiancé told their son that he would not appear on the show if he wasn't good, so rehearsing is vital.

However, it seemed little Eric was enthralled because he couldn't wait to get his turn behind the microphone! The television personality hilariously confessed that one day, his son said the words he dreaded:
"Daddy, can I audition for you? And I'm like, 'Oh, No!'"

Cowell shared how his son wants to be in a rock band and likes Green Day, but he brushed him off, telling him they'll talk about it later. The star joked that it would be "total torture" and "the hardest thing" seeing his son, who also plays drums, perform.

He couldn't imagine having to be put through a session of drumming and singing by the child who is quite serious about his goal. The star knew the boy would do what he wanted, but he wouldn't give him any special treatment when the day came for him to audition on "Britain's Got Talent."
Silverman's fiancé told their son that he would not appear on the show if he wasn't good, so rehearsing is vital. He informed the boy that he'd have to take lots of lessons, and Eric said, "Okay," and seemed to lose interest, Cowell adamantly declared, "But if he's terrible," he won't appear on the talent show.
