"....Regarding the news I read about the@llanepiso21 being my boyfriend, the truth is he's not my type; being gay is not a disease, and if it were, he would be the diva of the genre... in this case my type is of women and I love them... [sic]."
He said most of his friends are gay, and he stresses the importance of spreading love.
In the same post, the talented singer advised people that life was too short to seek acceptance and that people should be authentic, do whatever they want, and live freely without any masks.
J Balvin Does Not Care about People's Opinion
Despite Balvin clarifying his attraction to women, he did express his concerns regarding persistent gay rumors. In a 2017 interview, he acknowledged his status as a public figure and recognized that people had the right to their opinions.

Over the years, Balvin's sexual orientation has sparked different reactions among netizens, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts. In 2018, one fan shared a photoshopped photo of the singer with an LGBTQ flag on the background and wrote, "J Balvin is Gay Balvin."
In 2019, someone tweeted, "Ok...J Balvin is gay, right? In 2023, another fan asked," Is J Balvin gay?" Despite rumors surrounding Balvin's sexuality, the singer has been in a relationship with Argentinian model and actress Valentina Ferrer since 2018.
The couple, who met in 2017 on the set of his music video for "Sigo Extrañándote," made their red carpet debut at New York Fashion Week in 2018 and welcomed their son Rio in 2021.
