Is J Balvin Gay? The Singer Once Stated His Love for Women

Despite speculations surrounding J Balvin's sexuality, the singer confirmed on social media that he is attracted to women and prefers keeping his love life away from the spotlight as he tries to be a better person.

J Balvin's sexual orientation has been discussed for many years. In 2018, the singer, famously known as the Prince of Reggaeton, denied rumors about being gay. In a radio interview, the "Mi Gente" singer stated that if he were gay, he would be open about it and even go by the name The Princess of Reggaeton.

While responding to a question about why he has never introduced his girlfriend to the public, the talented singer said at the time that he was keeping his personal life private and didn't want the media to have an opinion about his partner.

Is J Balvin Gay? The Singer Opened Up about His Love Life

The singer disclosed what he looks for in a partner, revealing that he likes independent women who don't need him for wealth or anything. Balvin also admitted that he didn't envision getting married but saw himself starting a family.

Rumors about J Balvin's sexual orientation made rounds in 2017 after photos of him and singer Juan David Castaño surfaced on social media. The singer addressed the rumors through a detailed Instagram post, which he wrote in Spanish. A section of it read:

"....Regarding the news I read about the@llanepiso21 being my boyfriend, the truth is he's not my type; being gay is not a disease, and if it were, he would be the diva of the genre... in this case my type is of women and I love them... [sic]."

He said most of his friends are gay, and he stresses the importance of spreading love.

In the same post, the talented singer advised people that life was too short to seek acceptance and that people should be authentic, do whatever they want, and live freely without any masks.

J Balvin Does Not Care about People's Opinion

Despite Balvin clarifying his attraction to women, he did express his concerns regarding persistent gay rumors. In a 2017 interview, he acknowledged his status as a public figure and recognized that people had the right to their opinions.

He also emphasized that he wasn't bothered by the comments circulating about his sexuality. At the time, Balvin said he didn't have a partner, adding that he hadn't found someone to cope with his demanding career.

In 2019, Balvin shared a photo of two men disguised in masks, and his caption sparked more curiosity about the singer's sexual orientation. He wrote:

"Mommy, meet my boyfriend and HIS best friend." TAKE CARE OF HIM OUT THERE!!! #oasis (READ WELL) If I were gay, I would be just as happy!!!!" 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Balvin, who has collaborated with influential artists like Bad Bunny and Beyonce, uses his platform to support the LQBTQ community. He said most of his friends are gay, and he stresses the importance of spreading love. In 2019, he showed solidarity by dying his hair in rainbow colors for the Pride celebrations.

Over the years, Balvin's sexual orientation has sparked different reactions among netizens, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts. In 2018, one fan shared a photoshopped photo of the singer with an LGBTQ flag on the background and wrote, "J Balvin is Gay Balvin."

In 2019, someone tweeted, "Ok...J Balvin is gay, right? In 2023, another fan asked," Is J Balvin gay?" Despite rumors surrounding Balvin's sexuality, the singer has been in a relationship with Argentinian model and actress Valentina Ferrer since 2018.

The couple, who met in 2017 on the set of his music video for "Sigo Extrañándote," made their red carpet debut at New York Fashion Week in 2018 and welcomed their son Rio in 2021.
