Brock Purdy's Parents' View on Parenting

Brock followed in his father's athletic footsteps. His dad, Shawn, born in July 1968 in St. Petersburg, Florida, was also a dedicated athlete. He had a career in baseball, specifically as a relief pitcher. In 1991, Brock's father was drafted by the Anaheim Angels, and he spent many years in minor leagues.

During an interview, Brock's father talked about what it is like to be a dad. He reflected on his son's football career, revealing that despite different challenges, he always remained hopeful and knew that his son had a bright future in sports.

He also shared his thoughts on witnessing his son play professional football. Although he confessed to occasionally feeling nervous as a parent, he said he consistently relies on positive affirmations and God's guidance whenever his son plays.

Brock's mom, Carrie Puddy, also shared her experience of watching her son play in the field, noting that she is always calm as she believes her son is pursuing his dream of playing football, something that he always wanted to do since he was five.

Shawn went to Saint Cloud High School and graduated in 1986.

In 2022, the San Francisco 49ers selected Brock in the last pick of the 2022 NFL draft. His parents described the day he was picked, expressing that they all eagerly waited and, at some point, were nervous as they didn't know which team would draft him.

Within 30 minutes of being named by the San Fransisco 49ers, approximately 150 people, including family, friends, and former coaches, flocked into their homes to congratulate their son and join in the celebration.

Brock Purdy's Family Is Passionate about Sports

Even though Brock's mom did not pursue sports, she said she could ski and water ski better than her children. Brock's parents share three children. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Whitney, in 1997, and two years later, they welcomed their son Brock.

The couple, whose youngest child is Chubba Purdy, said their children love outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, and camping. According to the pair, one of the most significant aspects of their children's upbringing is their instilled tradition of having family dinners.

Brock's family are devoted Christians. His father said they raised their children with strong Christian values, and whenever Brock and his siblings had disagreements, they learned to forgive each other and make amends and that they are each other's biggest fans.

Brock's mom studied at El Toro High School and later enrolled at California State University Long Beach and graduated with a degree in Sociology. His parents married on November 5, 1994, and will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary this year.

Shawn went to Saint Cloud High School and graduated in 1986. After that, he attended the University of Miami, majoring in communications. He owns Fantastic Pools & Spa's LLC, and his wife is the Vice President.

Brock's brother Chubba was born in July 2001. He is also a talented football player. He played quarterback at Florida State for two seasons, from 2021 to 2022, before moving to Nebraska. Though less is known about Whitney's personal life, she has been in a relationship with Jared Schmidt since 2022. However, Brock is engaged to Jenna Brandt. The love birds both went to Iowa State University in 2018 as student-athletes.

Jenna, born in October 1999, attended Summer-Fredericksburg High School, where she played volleyball and served as the team's captain. Besides volleyball, she also competed in track and field. Even though Brock and Jenna first shared photos of them on social media during the summer of 2022, the lovebirds went public about their relationship in November 2022.

This year, Brock and Jenna took a big step in their relationship. The talented athlete proposed to Jenna in July 2023. The footballer shared a series of photos on July 2, with one of them capturing him down on one knee, popping the question as his family watched from a distance.
