Hollywood power couple Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation after nearly three decades in marriage. The news of their separation comes just a year after they bought a Manhattan penthouse with panoramic views.
Jackman and Furness have been married for 27 years. The two met in 1995 and tied the knot on April 11, 1996. They share two kids, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. The couple shocked their fans after announcing their separation, as they seemed to be in a happy and loving marriage.
It was only last year that Jackman and Furness reportedly bought a sprawling penthouse, spending $21.1 million on the property located in Chelsea. The residence is located in a gorgeous tower designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel.
The penthouse, which spans 4,675 square feet, has three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms and offers breathtaking views of the Hudson River and Downton and Midtown Manhattan.
The residence, which can be accessed using an elevator, is uniquely designed and expansive. It has a foyer with an art gallery and modernly designed stairs. The rooms are flooded with light thanks to 14-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows. It has a library and a connoisseur kitchen with an elegant breakfast table.
The property's primary suite has an extensive dressing table and a spa-like bathroom with six fixtures. The outdoor space is also well-thought-out as it has a loggia and a separate terrace on the main floor. The rooftop terrace has a deck, a stunning outdoor kitchen, and an amazing view of the Hudson River.

Residents of this remarkable tower enjoy amenities such as a lavish sauna, concierge services, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a full-time doorman, and a 70-foot-lap pool that impeccably transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.
With Jackman and Furness' separation, it appears that either one or both of them will have to let go of this luxurious penthouse. Meanwhile, some fans weren't impressed by the penthouse after seeing its interior. One fan said it didn't feel "very homey" and that it had a "museum feel to it."

"Don't know how anyone could live in that sterile lab," another fan concurred. A fan also pointed out that Jackman and Furness had made a risky investment in buying the penthouse because property taxes were high in Westchester.
The "Logan" star and Furness wanted to have kids biologically, but when they couldn't have kids naturally or via IVF, they went ahead with adoption.
Before moving to this residence, the pair used to stay at a three-story Manhattan condo, which they reportedly put on the market in 2022. The 11-square-foot-condo was originally listed for $38.9 million in 2022, but the selling price has since dropped to $29.9 million.
Jackman bought the apartment in 2008 for $21 million. Located at 176 Perry St., the apartment building as well as the interior of Jackman's five-bedroom, seven-bathroom unit was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier.
Just like Jackman and Furness' current penthouse, their former residence offers sweeping views of the Hudson River. It measures 11,000 square feet and has wall-to-wall windows and a sauna in the primary bedroom.

The condo spans the building all the way to its eighth, ninth, and tenth floors. Each floor has a terrace, and they are all connected by a spiral staircase. The unit hasn't been updated over the years, but since Jackman and his family lived there, it makes it an attractive purchase.
Before Jackman and Furness gained huge fame, they owned a modest Melbourne apartment bought in 1997. The two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartment had been in their possession for 20 years before they sold it. The property was auctioned on May 30, 2017, with its sale price listed at $740,000.
Jackman and Furness' long journey together as a couple has come to an end. The pair said in a statement that they would now focus on their individual growth. However, their family remains their highest priority. The pair, who went through an arduous journey to become parents, adore their kids.
Jackman and Furness' Parenthood Journey
Jackman and Furness always count their two kids, Oscar and Ava as their blessings. The 54-year-old once opened up about his and his ex's difficult journey to parenthood. They tried IVF for a long time and decided they'd had enough of it.
The "Logan" star and Furness wanted to have kids biologically, but when they couldn't have kids naturally or via IVF, they went ahead with adoption. However, Jackman doesn't think of Ava and Oscar as adopted but as their children.
Jackman and Furness are big on adoption and are happy that society has embraced it and lost the stigma that used to surround it. Jackman said he and Furness thought they'd be adopting more kids, but traveling and being hands-on parents proved challenging, so they settled for two.
The dad of two once said that Furness was the greatest thing that happened to him besides fatherhood. The actor, who loves being a dad, added that his love for his kids is so powerful that he'd do anything for them without even thinking about it.
"The Wolverine" star and Furness raised their kids to know that they are privileged due to the many advantages they have in life. However, he wants his kids to use their privileges in life to help others.
Jackman's family is highly blessed with a beautiful life with all the basic necessities. The actor said he wants his kids to embrace charity and assist the less privileged in fighting poverty.
Jackman said his family is ridiculously blessed and he doesn't need any more money in his life. The actor wants his family to do anything in their power to share their wealth with others. Even apart, their family will remain the actor's and Furness' greatest joy.
