'No Resemblance': Johnny Depp’s Rarely-Seen Son Looks Nothing like His Dad, Fans Said

Hollywood legend Johnny Depp, 60, best known for his illustrious film career, is a father of two. The "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" star shares daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, 24, and Jack Depp, 21, with his ex, Vanessa Paradis, 50.

Jack, who is rarely seen in public, was born three years after his older sister, Lily-Rose, on April 9, 2002. The 21-year-old's parents welcomed him in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.

Born initially as John Jack Christopher Depp III, Jack was named after both his dad and grandfather. Interestingly, his commonly used name is also the same as one of his father's most popular film characters, Jack Sparrow.

Having grown up with ultra-famous parents, subsequently resulting in their own fame, Jack and Lily-Rose's mother, Vanessa, did her best to raise her children as far away from the spotlight as possible. In a previous interview, Vanessa spoke about doing her best to keep cameras away from her children while they were still young.

Her reasoning for doing so is that she did not want to force them into a life in the public eye against their will. The French singer and model wanted her kids to grow old enough to decide for themselves whether a life of fame was truly what they desired. Of both her kids being born in France and spending some of their childhood there, Vanessa shared:

"For my children I secretly choose France...Only, in the south of France you can live much more anonymously. And that's a bliss, especially when the children are still young."

Jack and Lily-Rose were both raised bilingually. Having an American father and a French mother meant they grew up learning to speak English and French. Though they were schooled in America, Lily-Rose and Jack would still speak their mother tongue. Lily-Rose shared:

"When my brother and I were at the same school, whenever we wanted to say something that was going to stay just between us, we could say it in French and nobody would understand."

Apart from being bilingual, Jack, like his older sister, is super creative. The budding musician even has his own band and a keen interest in drawing. Though the famous son has a knack for the arts, according to his doting dad, when it comes to following in Johnny's footsteps, Jack has no desire to become an actor.

Although the father and son may not share an interest in acting, the two share a good relationship and are still similar in personality. During a past interview in which Johnny was talking about his kids, he mentioned Jack, who was 15 at the time, and his interesting history with learning how to drive, saying:

"...He has my instincts—my boy, and uh, he's crashed about five golf carts."

Similarly, when the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" star was enduring his legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, he spoke about the trial's impact on his children and how kids treated his son at school.

Within his impassioned speech about wanting to protect his kids from the backlash of the trial, Johnny also mentioned how proud he was when Jack informed him he was starting his own band and told him what the name would be — Clown Boner, to which he said:

"We don't need a paternity test. That's my kid."

Though Johnny's son shares his father's interests, at one point, fans believed the younger Depp looked nothing like his father. When a news outlet produced an article about famous father-son duos who look alike three years ago, Johnny and Jack were profiled.

Nonetheless, their parents did their best to leave their famous titles away from home and simply be there for them as their parents.

Upon seeing the side-by-side photo of Jack and his father, many commented on how different the two looked. A lot of comments said that Jack looked nothing like Johnny. Someone even went so far as to say that Jack looked more like actor Jack Black than his dad.

Similarly, when the same news outlet wrote another article about Johnny's lookalike son being spotted in a rare sighting, people again disagreed about the physical similarity. One Facebook user posted a picture of a young Johnny and expressed:

"Johnny at his son's age now...no resemblance!!!"

Others agreed that the father and son share no resemblance. Another person commented:

"Sorry... 'look alike' Son? It's laughable at best..."

Lily-Rose and Jack Depp Were Protected by Their Parents Growing Up and Share a Close Bond as Siblings

Fans may disagree about Jack sharing similar features with his dad; however, there is no denying that the two are still family and share a close bond. Of that family, Jack and his sister, Lily-Rose, also share a good relationship.

Although the siblings didn't start quite as close as they are now because of their three-year difference and Jack previously being of the age where he thought hanging out with his older sister would be uncool, Lily-Rose confirmed that the two have gotten much closer over the years. They grew up together with parents who did their best to shield and protect them as famous kids.

In a past interview, the 24-year-old Chanel model spoke about her and Jack's childhood and how it did not resemble that of the average one. Nonetheless, their parents did their best to leave their famous titles away from home and simply be there for them as their parents.

In this regard, Lily-Rose made special mention of their mom. She went on to say that despite her mom being a huge star, especially in France, they knew her outside of her famous life, simply as their mother.

In the same interview last year, Lily-Rose brought up her relationship with her brother. Of their bond, she disclosed:

"My brother and I are super close, so it's been cool to fight over what's in the fridge again or whatever."

Jack's loving older sister also takes opportunities to occasionally post about him on her Instagram, expressing both her pride and love for him.

Equally as proud and loving of Jack is his father, Johnny. Although fans claim that Jack and Johnny do not look alike, outside of their physical appearances, the father and son are still similar in different ways.
