Whoopi Goldberg is an actress and television personality, who co-hosts on "The View," a daytime talk show that has aired on ABC since 1997. The actress co-hosts the show alongside Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Sara Haines.

Whoopi and her co-shots were discussing the decision by Mitt Romney, the senator of Utah, not to run for re-election in 2024 when the actress posed a surprising question to Alyssa. "Are you pregnant?" Whoopi abruptly asked Alyssa in the middle of the discussion.
Whoopi's co-hosts burst into laughter, and Alyssa, who held her neck in shock, also laughed before replying that she was not pregnant. "You can't say that while my mother-in-law is here! She's been dying for me to get pregnant," she added.
Joy asked Whoopi why she would think Alyssa was pregnant. An apologetic Whoopi replied that she just felt a vibe that made her think Alyssa was expectant. However, Alyssa wondered if her tummy may have made the actress think she was pregnant. But despite the initial shock, she said:
"I'm very open to being pregnant soon. I am not blessed to be pregnant yet, but my husband and I are thinking about it."
Sunny asked Alyssa if she was really sure she wasn't pregnant, to which she answered, "I'm pretty sure." However, Alyssa said she would take a test when she got home just to be 100 percent sure.

Sara revealed that Alyssa and her husband, Justin Griffin, were trying to get pregnant. When Whoopi heard this, she was very apologetic for asking the question. "Forgive me. I'm just, I just, you have this, I see a glow (…), but please forgive me, please forgive me," she begged.
Alyssa and her husband, Justin, have been married for close to two years. The two got engaged in 2020 after dating for three years. They finally tied the knot on November 6, 2021, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Despite Alyssa being a good sport about the whole incident, fans were angered by Whoopi's question. They wondered what she was thinking that led her to ask another woman if she was pregnant on air. They took to the comment section of the video to express their thoughts.
A fan said the actress was so "damn rude," while another online user called her a "crazy woman" who needed to be fired and gotten rid of on "The View." Another fan commented:
"Who asks another woman that on national TV??? Whoopi is so inappropriate. Can't stand her these days, but I loved her so much when she was on sister act."

The incident would not be the first time Whoopi came under fire for her comment. In 2022, she faced backlash from online users due to a controversial statement she made about the Holocaust on "The View."
What Was Whoopi's Comment about the Holocaust?
Whoopi said on "The View" in 2022 that the Holocaust wasn't about race but about man's inhumanity to man. The actress dismissed race in the Holocaust, noting that it was about two groups of white people.

She added that the Holocaust was about how people treated each other and not about whether one was white, black, or Jewish. Whoopi's statement angered many, including the Jewish community, with organizations such as The Auschwitz Memorial and StopAntisemitism.org condemning her words.

The president of ABC News, Kim Godwin, suspended Whoopi from "The View" for two weeks and said her statement was painful and wasn't right at all. The actress later issued an apology by sharing a statement on X, formerly Twitter, saying that the Holocaust was equally about race as it was about human's inhumanity to humans.
Whoopi, who is never shy to speak her mind, is also apologetic when her comments rub people the wrong way. The actress apologized to Alyssa repeatedly, and in the past, she sent her sincere apologies to the people who've been hurt by her words.
