Woman Recalls Her Mother’s Nightmare Visit When She Had Just Given Birth

A woman had to prolong her stay at the hospital after her C-section due to complications. To ensure she had enough sustenance to care for her child, she asked her mother to visit with some food. While technically, her mom did give her food, it wasn't what she was expecting, nor was it what she needed to recover quickly.

The horrified new mom spoke about her experience on TikTok, narrating how difficult it was to recover, care for a child, and deal with a toxic mother all at the same time. She couldn't help but share several things that her mom did to her after she gave birth.

Number One: She Brought Almost-Expired Canned Goods

People often allow new moms to indulge after giving birth, especially after the nine long months they couldn't enjoy some of their favorite dishes. When Courtney asked her mom to bring her some food at the hospital, she thought she'd get some of her favorites.

To her surprise, her mother brought her almost-expired canned goods from her pantry. Rather than satisfying her cravings, Courtney ended up hurt that her mother didn't even bother making an effort for her.

"If someone brought me cans of food in the hospital post partum, wanting food, I would have burst into tears," one TikTok user commented.

Number Two: She Cooked Bacon After Arriving and Didn't Clean Up

When the woman invited her mom over for two days to help care for the newborn baby while she recovered from her C-section, her mom decided to cook some bacon shortly after arriving. After using the stove and leaving grease all over the stovetop, counter, and floor, she didn't bother cleaning up.

Courtney couldn't help but feel frustrated over the situation because she could barely move. At this point, her incision was still painful, and cleaning up after her mom was not something she should've been worrying about.

Number Three: Her Mom Raided the Cabinet and Got Wasted

Rather than caring for her grandchild like she was really supposed to do, Courtney's mom chose to raid the liquor cabinet. She helped herself to the available bottles and got drunk.

Courtney thought having her mom over would mean giving her time to recover from her C-section. However, she quickly realized her mom did nothing but make things worse for her.

Number Four: She Handed a List of Demands for Her Next Visit

Her mom had no problem making herself feel right at home. From indulging herself in a pack of bacon to drinking her daughter's liquor, it seemed there was nothing more she could do to worsen the situation.

However, when she bid her daughter goodbye to go back home, she handed her a list of demands for when she came back to visit. She asked her postpartum daughter to buy a wall clock for the guest bedroom so she could quickly tell the time. The demanding mom also asked for softer hand towels in the bathroom and an electric can opener – because using a manual one is just too much of a hassle.

Courtney was done with her at this point. After what happened, the woman realized she could do without her mom. She cut ties and hadn't spoken to her in years.

On TikTok, people decided to share their own horror stories with their mothers. They assured the woman she wasn't alone and that some instances made it reasonable to cut off a family member.

"My mom chastised me for delivering a baby at 3 a.m. after 20 hours of labor. "You have no idea how exhausting that was for those of us waiting," one user wrote.

"My mom [criticized] me for sleeping while my son [was] sleeping because 'the amount of time he is sleeping, I could've cleaned the whole house.' I was TIRED," another added.

"My mom came over 2 days postpartum to "help" but took a nap on the couch for 2 hours, made herself lunch, then took a selfie w/ baby & left," one woman said, entirely similar to what Courtney experienced.
