Mom Humiliated Her Own Son in Front of His Friends in Support of Her Daughter-in-Law

A 60-year-old woman was horrified at how her son was treating his wife. When she discovered what was happening in their marriage, she took matters into her own hands but feared she may have gone too far.

A woman in her sixties had a 33-year-old son and 32-year-old daughter-in-law who had three children under four. The children were three, two, and four months old.

The woman's son told his wife she should be a stay-at-home mom. He told her to sell her business and be home with her kids 24/7 because he had relished having his mother around for the entirety of his childhood. However, he didn't reveal the whole truth to her.

The son didn't reveal to his wife that while his mother had stayed home with her children, every chore before nine in the morning and after five in the evening was split evenly between her and her husband. This was where the problem came in.

What Happened to the Woman's Daughter-In-Law?

The woman explained that although she and her husband had decided she would be a stay-at-home mom, she had every Sunday off, and they split the chores when her husband was home. However, her son had yet to keep up this tradition.

When the woman visited her son and daughter-in-law, she noticed that her daughter-in-law seemed to be struggling mentally and exhausted, so the woman, her 55-year-old sister, and a friend pooled some money to pay for a spa day for her daughter-in-law.

The three older women told the woman's daughter-in-law that they would babysit the children for her while she took some time for herself to recuperate from the busyness of being a stay-at-home mom.

But as the woman was preparing for her daughter-in-law to drop off her grandchildren one evening, she got a phone call from her daughter-in-law saying she could not make it. The woman was shocked by the reason.

Why Did the Woman's Daughter-In-Law Cancel Her Spa Day?

The woman's daughter-in-law told her that her husband's friends had come in from out of town, and he wanted to go out for drinks with them, so he would need her to stay home with the kids rather than go to the spa.

When the woman probed further into the situation, she learned that her son had been taking advantage of his wife. She revealed:

"She came clean about him doing no chores, no date nights, and her basically doing all of the child care because "that's what stay-at-home moms do." I was honestly disgusted."

The woman then told her daughter-in-law to bring the children to her house and bring a friend to the spa. She even gifted her $500 to treat herself to something nice.

When the daughter-in-law arrived with the children, the woman asked where her son was. After a bit of pressing, the daughter-in-law told her her son was out with his friends at the bar.

Determined to set things straight with her son, the woman decided to see his son. As her daughter-in-law left for the spa, she went to the bar where her son was supposed to be with his friends.

When she got to the bar, she sat with her son and his friends and asked him if she had failed him as a mother or if his father had failed because she had not raised him to be as selfish as he was to his wife.

Then the woman told her son that she and his father believed his partner came before his "silly drunk friends." The woman admitted that she humiliated her son and was banned from the bar after that encounter.

Meanwhile, when her daughter-in-law returned from the spa, she told her that she would be taking her children to her parents. As for her son, he called her and accused her of humiliating him and sticking her nose in his marriage.

Later, the woman updated the post, saying she was shocked at how people were surprised that she loved and respected her daughter-in-law. She said:

"My advice is: Treat your daughter/son/non-binary in-laws how you'd want YOUR children to [be] treated."

Apart from the comments of those not able to believe the woman's kind treatment of her daughter-in-law, the woman received many others with opinions on how she handled the situation with her son.

One person told the woman it seemed her son needed someone to stick their nose into his marriage because he was misogynistic. They also clarified that she was his mother, not a random stranger.

The woman commented that she didn't know where her son got the attitude because his brothers and father were respectful and loving fathers and husbands. She also said she spoke to her other sons' partners, who all said they would leave them if they acted similarly.

Many people told the woman her daughter-in-law was lucky to have her, and one suggested she should take her daughter-in-law out for coffee to discuss the situation so she knew someone was there for her.

One person hoped that the woman's actions forced her son to see the error of his ways and he would begin treating his wife and children with more love and respect from then on.
