What was supposed to be a fun trip led to tragedy for a family. In an unexpected twist of faith, an eight-year-old girl and their family dog were "instantly killed."

The Eastins, locals of Idaho, planned a camping trip at the Boise Natural Forest Pine Campground one weekend. The family of ten decided to bring their dog Sybil with them, as it'd be a great place for their pet to run around and enjoy the fresh breeze.

The most unbelievable tragedy struck the family while they were inside their tents. One of the twins, eight-year-old Cadence, was inside a tent with their dog Sybil when a rotten cottonwood tree fell on them.

Frantic and hoping for a miracle, Cadence's parents, Quin and Natasha, called for help. The Elmore County Sheriff's Office was quick to respond, but their attempts to revive Cadence were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Likewise, their family dog Sybil was also asleep in the tent when the tree fell. After investigations, the tree was seen to be rotting.

What Caused the Tree to Fall

"This area in which the unfortunate event happened is an area that was burned during the Elk and Pony complex fires," the Elmore Country Sheriff's Office noted.

Because of the fires, the trees began to erode, which ultimately made them unstable. While the Sheriff's Office made this explanation, the exact cause of why the tree fell has yet to be determined.

A friend close to the Eastin family put up a GoFundMe for them. A total of 378 donations were made, and the fundraiser exceeded its initial goal of garnering $20,000 for the bereaved family.

In total, the page raked in $31,033, meant to help the Eastin family pay for Cadence and Sybil's funerals and to help them get by during such a difficult time.

Remembering Cadence Eastin

The page described Cadence as a unique child who had the most cheerful disposition. She always had a warm smile on her face and was kind to other people.

Not only did Cadence love people, but she loved animals, too. While at her grandparents' home, she'd often wake up early and sleep late to help her grandfather feed his animals.

"She loved animals and they loved her. It is especially revealing that the family dog was curled up next to her when the tree fell taking both of their lives," the page read.

More than anything, Cadence was ahead of her time. She was intelligent, thoughtful, and curious.

While she enjoyed hanging out with adults during family gatherings, she was also very attentive to her siblings and cousins. She'd always lend a helping hand and was a sweet girl loved by everyone around her.

Quin and Natasha Eastin, along with their seven other children, are completely devastated. Cadence's death left a void on her identical twin sister, London.

As a Christian family, the Eastins find comfort in knowing Cadence is with God. However, the pain of losing her so early in her life is too much to bear for them.

To add to the family's heartbreak, they couldn't afford the extraordinary costs of paying for a funeral. Quin and Natasha had been preoccupied with ensuring their children were fed and that they had a home to live in.

So, much of their money went to mortgage payments and their daily expenses. Planning a funeral was not something they'd put in their budget.

So, their loved ones put together the fundraiser on their behalf so they could seek help from kind strangers. While no amount of money could ever bring back their dear Cadence and Sybil, it'd allow them to slowly move forward and live inspired lives dedicated to their fallen loved ones.
