Jimmy III's Parents Were Absent during His Formative Years
Londa and Jimmy Butler Sr. are the parents of Jimmy III. In their family, the athlete has seven siblings. It's unclear what caused the distance to grow between Londa and her son but when Jimmy III was 13 years old, she insisted he leave their home. Jimmy III recalled his mom's last words:
"I don't like the look of you. You gotta go."
Londa's husband, a former truck driver, had been absent from his life since their son was a baby. Jimmy III eventually left their home in Tomball, Texas, with no family to rely on, no stable place to call home, and no financial resources to support himself.
Instead of the typical teenage concerns like school, sports, and social life, his primary focus became finding a place to stay. He often had to move from one friend's house to another just to secure a place to sleep at night.
Jimmy III found not only a new family but also an unexpected friendship with none other than actor Mark Wahlberg.
Jimmy III's friend seemed to avoid discussing his and Londa's estrangement, treating the topic off-limits, often referring to it as "Jimmy's business." He also tends to put up a wall about his and his father's relationship.

Londa and Jimmy Sr.'s son found refuge with another family and discovered a motherly figure in Michelle Lambert, who happened to be the mother of football player Jordan Leslie.
However, Michelle harbored reservations about allowing Jimmy III into their home, given the prevailing rumors in Tomball about his troublesome nature. There's more to Michelle's situation, though.

She had four children from her first marriage, and her new husband's three children from his former union also brought three additional children into the family. Finances were tight, adding to the complexity.
Finally, Michelle's husband allowed Londa's son to stay temporarily. But after a few months of limited stays, Michelle's husband allowed Jimmy to stay permanently, as each child wanted him there on different nights.
Jimmy III Regards a Hollywood Star as His Paternal Role Model
Londa's son found not only a new family but also an unexpected friendship with none other than actor Mark Wahlberg. This unlikely connection began in 2013 during the filming of "Transformers" in Chicago. Mark starred in the movie with Nicola Peltz and Stanley Tucci.
Jimmy III was initially starstruck by the renowned actor. The star athlete and Mark first connected by playing basketball at the Berto Center, the Chicago Bulls' former training facility.

Over time, the Miami Heat star began seeing Mark as a father figure who genuinely cares about his well-being and how his day went. The Hollywood star frequently offers his help when needed.
Mark, who is married to Rhea Durham, showcases unwavering dedication to his own family, which Jimmy III admires. He also possesses a strong work ethic, inspiring him to start a rigorous early morning workout routine.

The Athlete Has No Animosity with His Parents
Jimmy III has achieved positive relationships with his parents. After all the heartbreaking moments, Londa and Jimmy Sr.'s son still loves them deeply and longs to leave the past behind.
Londa's reunion with her son was full of pride and love. They rekindled their relationship after her son reached out to her, and they both reaffirmed their bond as mother and son. They had no bad blood between them.
Like Londa, Jimmy Sr. also experienced a warm reconnection with his son after his long disappearance, though his son mentioned that they continue to "work on their relationship."
The NBA star's history was far from pleasant, yet he expressed profound gratitude for his journey and declared his love for the experiences that shaped him into the person he is today.
He has emphasized that he values the personal growth and strength he gained from those experiences and does not want pity to define him. He does not hold grudges and wants to move forward.
