Carrie Shares A Strong Connection With Her Sister
Carrie had the difficult task of calling Shania Twain to deliver devastating news that would change their lives forever. In 1987, tragedy struck their family in a fatal car accident involving their parents, Sharon Twain and Jerry Twain.
Shania, who was 22 then, recalled the profound shock and grief that gripped her in those days following the devastating news. After the tragic accident, she took on the monumental responsibility of caring for her three younger siblings, including Carrie.
Their two younger brothers were only 13 and 14 years old then. In the face of this tragedy, they decided not to be separated, as no other relatives could take both of them in. The only option was for them to stick together as a family.
She affectionately referred to Carrie and their brothers as her "kids" despite knowing they weren't biologically hers. Her eldest sister was preoccupied with her own family, leaving Shania to step into the role of caregiver—a role that wasn't entirely new to her. She said:
"I was already very much a mother figure in our house. My mother was depressed a lot of our lives, didn't get out of bed for days many times."
During a challenging period, Carrie's sister played a significant role as a guardian for her younger siblings. Mark, their younger brother who worked as a computer technician then, shared glimpses into Shania's role as the responsible older sister.
