Kate Hudson’s Eldest Son Who Used to Wear Braces and Sported Long Hair Is All Grown Up and Taller than His Mother

- Hudson's eldest son is now in college and is taller than his actress mom.
- Hudson and her son's father have an amicable co-parenting relationship.
Although Kate Hudson became a household name when she was younger after starring in many blockbuster films, her time at home was just as valuable as she became a mother to three children.
Each of Hudson's children has a different father, yet the siblings remain close to each other and their mother. They have a beautiful blended family of which Ryder Robinson is the eldest child.

Hudson welcomed Ryder with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson. While the marriage didn't last, Hudson has been vocal about how much she loves being Ryder's mother.
Who Is Ryder Robinson?
Ryder was born in 2004, during his mother's marriage to his father. The boy is now 19 and has turned into a fine young man, a head taller than his mother.
Although he once had long hair and braces, his looks have evolved as he grew up. Gone are the braces, and he ditched his long hair in favor of a shorter cut. But no matter how he looks, his mother loves him.
For Ryder's birthday on January 7 this year, Hudson took to Instagram to share a photo carousel of her son. She captioned the post by saying:
"Born on full moon in cancer, this young man has my whole heart."
Hudson described her son's characteristics and said how much she loved celebrating the day he was born. The actress also talked about how much she loved her son and wished him a happy birthday.
When Ryder was much younger, his mother shared what it was like for her to be his mother. Although it wasn't easy, all she wanted was for her son to be happy and have a good time.
Hudson has often gushed about how proud she is of her son, including when he graduated from high school last year. She reminisced about the days when it was only an event in their distant future.
Following his graduation, Ryder moved on to college. However, his mother was not as excited as he was to start this new stage of his life. In one interview, Hudson said it was difficult for her to talk about her son going off to college. She admitted:
"I will have a moment where I just start crying because it will hit me that he's just not here."
Although it was difficult for Hudson, she confirmed that Ryder was excited to be away at college and enjoyed being in the city. She also said she was excited for her son's future.
All Hudson asked from life was that her children would be happy and feel comfortable in their own skin, which her son was, so although she was upset he was gone, she was delighted for him.
While Hudson has raised Ryder to be close to his siblings and his other family, the young man's parents did not last long enough together. Hudson and her ex-husband divorced when Ryder was very young.
What Is Hudson's Relationship with Her Ex-Husband?
Ryder was only two when his parents divorced in 2007. They had been married for seven years before they parted ways and agreed on joint custody of their young son. However, the arrangement didn't always work for everyone.
When Ryder was 13, his parents returned to court when his father contested the custody agreement and petitioned for its reevaluation.
In the documents, it was revealed that Ryder, Hudson, and Robinson would need to undergo psychological evaluations to determine what would suit Ryder's needs best.
Both parents agreed to undergo interviews about Ryder's living situation and mental health when he was at their home. They confirmed they had an amicable relationship and spoke every day so they could adequately co-parent their son.

Hudson's ex-husband has been lucky in love with his third wife, Allison Bridges. However, Hudson was less fortunate. She married and divorced once more before becoming engaged to her current fiancé.

Despite her turbulent love life and the fact that she has other children, Hudson has remained dedicated to her eldest son. She has a beautiful relationship with the boy's father, which allows Ryder a relationship with each parent.

Hudson and her ex-husband have remained friendly throughout the years and have gathered a few times to celebrate their son together. One of these occasions was when Ryder graduated from high school.
The parents attended Ryder's high school graduation and even posed for a photo with Ryder's diploma after the ceremony. In a post, Hudson said:
"Today was a big day for our family. A day you talk [about] when your kids are little and say things like, "Hey, one day it will be 2022, and you'll graduate from high school!"

Two photos accompanied the caption, one with Hudson, Ryder, and his siblings, and another with Ryder and his parents. In both photos, Ryder was wearing his cap and gown.
According to Hudson, raising her son had been an honor and a privilege, and she was excited for her son's future. She also sent commiserations to the parents who felt lost at the fact that their children would be leaving home and starting their lives.
