'General Hospital' Actor Tyler Christopher Passes Away in His Apartment
Known for his roles on "General Hospital," "Into the West," and "Shouting Secrets," Tyler Christopher passed away twelve days before his birthday. His colleague has since paid his respects to the late actor.
Tyler Christopher was known for his role as Nikolas on "General Hospital." When he passed, his colleague said that they were sending their thoughts to Christopher's children and his father.
Since the news of his death broke, many of Christopher's co-stars have sent his family their love and condolences. Fans who had been following his career for years are heartbroken to know that he will no longer be making progress.
What Happened to Tyler Christopher?
Christopher's co-star, Maurice Benard, took to Instagram to share photos of his friend in remembrance. In the caption of the post, Benard confirmed that Christopher had passed on from a cardiac event that morning.
Benard said that Christopher, who passed away in his San Diego apartment, was a talented man who brought joy to his fans through his characters. Benard went on to talk about Christopher's advocacy for better mental health and shared:
"We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father."
The post garnered many comments from fans and colleagues wishing Christopher a peaceful rest and telling him what he meant to them. One fan said they checked his page often to check on his progress with his mental health and were saddened they would no longer be able to do so.
Christopher's Battle with Alcohol
Until very recently, Christopher struggled with alcohol abuse. In May, he was found sleeping near the American Airlines terminal at the airport in Southern California.
When passers-by notified the cops, they approached him to wake him up, and he told them the reason he was sleeping there was that he had missed his flight. However, Burbank police argued that there were clear signs of alcohol abuse, like Christopher not being able to care for himself.
The police arrested Christopher on public intoxication for the second time. The first was a few years prior when he fell asleep in the back of an Uber. Since then, Christopher had cleaned up his act and seemingly did better.
His last Instagram post four weeks ago showed him and some others at a meet-and-greet event. He called it a great day and said:
"I hope those who attended also had the time of their lives."
Our thoughts and prayers are with Christopher's family during this difficult time. Rest in peace.
